20210360939 · 2021-11-25 ·

A low-bacteria milk powder with a WPNI of at least 2 is suggested, obtainable by (a) providing a milk component; (b) optionally, separating the cream from the milk component; (c) subjecting the milk component from which the cream had been optionally separated to microfiltration, obtaining a low-bacteria permeate P1 and a bacteria-contaminated retentate R1; (d) mixing the permeate with a liquid lipid phase and a solid active agent phase; (e) optionally, subjecting the mixture obtained in step (d) to a temperature treatment; and (f) processing the mixture of step (d) or (e) that had optionally been temperature-treated, obtaining a dry powder.

Separation column containing titanium oxide nanotubes

A method of removing one or more antibiotics from a dairy product, the method involve passing the dairy product comprising an antibiotic in a first amount through a bulk comprising, relative to a total bulk weight, at least 75 wt. % of titanium oxide nanostructures, to provide the dairy product comprising the antibiotic in a second, lesser amount, wherein the nanostructures have lengths at least two-fold in excess of their width and height. Bulk materials useful in this or related methods or applications may have loosely tangled, noodle-like morphologies on sub-100 nm scale, and need not employ graphene and/or polymeric support networks in columns, generally having only titanium oxides without silicon or iron oxides.

WHEY-DERIVED POLAR LIPIDS-CONCENTRATED FRACTION COMPOSITION AND USE THEREOF

The present invention relates to a whey-derived polar lipid-concentrated fraction composition, being a single-phase composition derived from a whey protein concentrate, wherein the composition is derived from a fraction obtained by treating the whey protein concentrate with a water-containing spirit, a total lipid content is 90 percent by weight (wt %) or more with respect to a dry weight of the composition, and a phospholipid content is 35 wt % or more with respect to the total lipid weight. According to the present invention, a whey-derived polar lipid-concentrated fraction composition in a stable form that maximizes emulsification and physiological functionality may be prepared.

Methods for Extracting Milk Protein from Expired or Spoiled Milk
20220095645 · 2022-03-31 · ·

Methods for extracting protein from expired or spoiled milk is disclosed. In at least one embodiment, the method includes the steps of acid hydrolysis, first filtration, fine filtration, activation, salting out, degreasing, drying and packaging. Through the combined process of “protein activation” and “self-assembly salting out,” these methods enable the reuse and upcycling of expired and spoiled milk.

DEVICE AND METHOD FOR ANTIBIOTIC REMOVAL FROM DAIRY PRODUCTS

Provided is a method of optimizing animal colostrum for human consumption by removing allergenic components and combining one or more immune factors to enable the composition to target the mucosal barriers, thereby enhancing mucosal integrity and increasing immune support. The composition is purified to remove one or more of lactose, casein proteins, fats, and/or oils, thereby creating a product that is devoid of allergenic components. The composition may be combined with a prebiotic, and/or natural sweeteners, additional vitamins, herbs, and/or minerals, and flavoring ingredients. The resulting product forms an instantly dissolvable powder that can be distributed in single serve packets, aerosolized spray, and/or in a chewable form. Furthermore, the composition can be used as an ingredient in food and beverages, in infant formula, in medical foods, or in over-the-counter drugs. Also provided is a method of manufacturing the bioactive composition.

NOVEL SIALIDASES AND USES THEREOF

The present disclosure relates to novel sialidase enzymes having a preference for cleaving N-glycolylneuraminic acid (Neu5Gc) from glycoconjugates over cleaving N-acetylneuraminic acid (Neu5Ac). The present disclosure further provides the polypeptide of such novel sialidase and its catalytic pockets; the recombinant host cells expressing the same, as well as the enzymatic, pharmaceutical, and consumable compositions comprising such novel sialidases. Probiotic compositions comprising a bacterium that expresses the sialidase having a preference for Neu5Gc over Neu5Ac, and methods for removing Neu5Gc from consumable products are also provided. Also disclosed are methods for treating or preventing various diseases, disorders, and inflammatory conditions in a subject using the novel sialidases.
