Lid hinge for a laundry treating appliance
A hinge for a laundry treating appliance has a housing having a portion received by an aperture in the shroud. The housing also has a first end comprising a mouth adapted to couple with the shroud. The hinge further has a bracket that has a first end connected to the lid and a second end fastened to the housing and the bracket is received in the aperture in the shroud.
CONTROL PANEL FOR A WASHING MACHINE APPLIANCE
A washing machine appliance and control panel is provided herein. The washing machine appliance may include a cabinet defining an opening, a basket, a door, a secondary control panel, and a controller. The basket may be mounted within the cabinet and define a wash chamber beneath the opening to receive one or more clothing articles to be washed. The door may be pivotally attached to the cabinet and selectively movable between an open position and a closed position. The secondary control panel may be disposed on the cabinet within a closed footprint of the door. The secondary control panel may be covered beneath the door in the closed position. The controller may be operatively connected to the secondary control panel. The controller may be configured to receive an input signal from the secondary control panel, and initiate an operative step in response to the input signal.
Washing machine lid with compound pivot axis
A washing machine includes a cabinet defining a lateral direction, a transverse direction, and a vertical direction. The lateral, transverse, and vertical directions are mutually orthogonal. The washing machine appliance also includes a top panel on the cabinet that defines an opening. A wash chamber is defined within the cabinet below the opening of the top panel. The washing machine appliance also includes a lid which is rotatable through a plane defined by the transverse direction and the vertical direction between a closed position to sealingly enclose the wash chamber and an open position to permit access to the wash chamber. A hinge rotatably connects the lid to the top panel. The hinge defines a compound pivot axis. The lid rotates relative to the top panel about the compound pivot axis.

Washing machine appliance having a removable agitator
A washing machine appliance may include a tub, a basket, an impeller base, and an extended post. The impeller base may be rotatably mounted within the basket. The impeller base may include an impeller platform and a mounting face defined on the impeller platform. The mounting face may define a recessed cup. The extended post may be removably attached to the impeller base to rotate therewith. The extended post may define an interior cavity. The extended post may include a mating collar and an attachment piston. The mating collar may be on the bottom end in selective engagement with the mounting face at the recessed cup. The attachment piston may include a piston flange extending radially outward at an upper piston end and define an upper radial contact surface in selective engagement with a portion of an inner surface of the mating collar.

Method of determining volume of water to add to first and second washing compartments of a washing machine as a function of determined moment of inertia
A washing machine includes a first washing compartment to hold a first set of articles to be washed and a second washing compartment to holds a second set of articles to be washed, the second washing compartment having an inserted position and a removed position. A liquid flow valve is configured to connect to an external liquid source to selectively control flow of liquid from the external liquid source and into one or more of the first washing compartment and the second washing compartment. An electric motor is configured to rotate the first washing compartment, and the second washing compartment, when the second washing compartment is in the inserted position. A controller, in communication with the electric motor, determines a mass of the second set of articles and then determines, as a function of the determined mass, a volume of water to be added to the second washing compartment.

WASHER APPLIANCE HAVING REMOVABLE AGITATOR POST WITH RADIAL LOCKING FEATURES
A washing appliance with an agitator post configured for removable positioning in a receptacle. A shaft may be supported by the agitator post, the shaft rotatable relative to the agitator post. A plurality of movable tabs may be positioned at the bottom end of the agitator post and in mechanical communication with the shaft such that a direction of rotation of the shaft causes the plurality of movable tabs to be selectively movable along a radial direction between an extended position in contact with the receptacle that prevents rotation of the agitator post relative to the receptacle and a retracted position that allows rotation of the agitator post relative to the receptacle.
