The present invention relates to polypeptides having endoglucanase activity, catalytic domains, and polynucleotides encoding the polypeptides or catalytic domains. The invention also relates to nucleic acid constructs, vectors, and host cells comprising the polynucleotides as well as methods of producing and using the polypeptides or catalytic domains.
Flame resistant fabrics having improved resistance to surface abrasion or pilling and methods for making them
Flame resistant fabrics and garments that have improved resistance to pilling and/or abrasion are disclosed. The fabrics, the fibers or yarns that make up the fabrics, or garments made from the fabrics are treated with a finish composition that is applied to the fibers, yarns, fabrics, or garments and then cured. The finish composition increases the resistance to pilling and/or abrasion of the fibers, yarns, fabrics, or garments. The finish composition includes a polymeric abrasion resistance aid, an alkylfluoropolymer, a polyethylene, and a wetting agent.
Cutinase variants and polynucleotides encoding same
The present invention relates to variants with cutinase activity of a parent cutinase, comprising an alteration at one or more (e.g. several) positions corresponding to positions: 36, 37, 40, 78, 90, 114, 150, 196, 216, or 217 of SEQ ID NO: 2, wherein the alteration is a substitution for positions 40, 78, 90, 114, 150, 196 and 216, and a deletion for positions 36, 37 and 217, and wherein the variant has at least 75% but less than 100% sequence identity to the mature polypeptide of SEQ ID NO: 2. The present invention also relates to polynucleotides encoding the variants; nucleic acid constructs, vectors, and host cells comprising the polynucleotides; and method for obtaining and methods of producing the variants. It also relates to compositions comprising the variant, and to methods for using the variant.
Nucleic acid constructs and host cells for producing neurospora endoglucanases
Polypeptides having endoglucanase activity, catalytic domains, and polynucleotides encoding the polypeptides or catalytic domains. Nucleic acid constructs, vectors, and host cells comprising the polynucleotides as well as methods of producing and using the polypeptides or catalytic domains.
Carbon fiber fabric cleaning and finishing
A process to clean carbon fiber fabric of a pre-applied sizing, while simultaneously activating or preparing the fabric to receive a polymer resin is described. The cleaning process and chemistry combines an enzymatic cleaning solution with an oxidizing agent. The enzymatic solution strips the fibers of lubricants, surfactants, and other chemicals of the sizing which might otherwise interfere with interfacial properties and bonding of the fabric to the matrix resin. The inclusion of an oxidizing agent concurrently adds hydroxyl groups to the surface of the fabric allowing for the grafting of organic copolymers to the surface of the fabric, the copolymer being chosen based upon the desired polymer resin. This process provides a customized finished carbon fiber fabric to bond to a specific polymer resin, without interference resulting from an inadequate fiber sizing chemistry. In this way, a customizable finished fabric may be manufactured.
Fabric or flexible material with hot melt adhesive for inflatable safety products
Described is a fabric or flexible composite material for an inflatable safety product. The fabric or flexible composite material includes a substrate and a hot melt adhesive on the substrate. The substrate and hot melt adhesive may include a same base polymer. A method of forming an inflatable safety product includes forming a fabric or flexible composite material by applying a hot melt adhesive to a substrate using heat and pressure.
TEXTILE PROCESS AND PRODUCT
The invention provides a method for treating textile material to inhibit or reduce release of formaldehyde from the textile material. The invention also provides a method for treating textile material without the use of formaldehyde or formaldehydic compounds in the treatment compositions. The resulting textile material is environmentally friendly and can exhibit a high degree of oleophobic, hydrophobic, superoleophobic, superhydrophobic, superhydrophilic, omniphobic, hydrophilic/wicking, abrasion resistance, electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity, anti-fungal and/or anti-bacterial properties textile surfaces. In some cases, the resulting textile material exhibits multivalued oleophobic, hydrophobic, hydrophilic, superoleophobic, superhydrophobic, superhydrophilic and/or omniphobic textile surfaces which can repel soil and/or water at extremely low-surface-tension without sacrificing aesthetic qualities.
Fluid-resistant textile fabrics and methods
Coating compositions which include a blend of a fluorochemical and a particulate additive comprising a bimodal size distribution of inorganic nanoparticles are provided. The bimodal distribution of inorganic nanoparticles may include a quantity of smaller nanoparticles having an average size distribution of between about 1 to about 15 nm, and a quantity of larger nanoparticles having an average size distribution of between about 40 to about 500 nm. The smaller and larger nanoparticles may be present in a ratio of the smaller sized particles to the larger sized particles of at least 1.2, with the total amount of nanoparticles being present in an amount of between about 0.1 to about 10 wt. % based on total composition weight.
USE OF A STRUCTURAL POLYPEPTIDE FOR TREATING OR FINISHING TEXTILES
