The present invention relates to compositions for weight management comprising: a) a microbiome modifying component; b) a satiety modifying component; and c) a metabolic modifying component. The composition may also be used for the treatment of obesity, elevated cholesterol, diabetes, hypertension or heart disease.

GENDER SPECIFIC SYNTHETIC NUTRITIONAL COMPOSITIONS AND NUTRITIONAL SYSTEMS COMPRISING THEM

Gender specific synthetic nutritional compositions for infants up to 1 month of age contain a caseins content adapted based on that found in human milk produced for an infant of the same gender and age. The compositions can be used in a method of treating, protecting or mitigating sub-optimal growth and development of an infant up to 1 month of age.

Disclosed is a method for the manufacture of a spray-dried powder consisting essentially of 3-SL and/or 6-SL, the spray-dried powder, its use for the manufacture of nutritional compositions, and nutritional compositions containing the spray-dried powder.

Use of oligosaccharide compositions to enhance weight gain

Provided herein are compositions and methods related to use of oligosaccharides, such as 2-fucosyllactose, for increasing weight gain in a subject. In some aspects the compositions and methods are for use in infants, such as premature infants or infants having intestinal failure.

MICROFILTRATION OF HUMAN MILK TO REDUCE BACTERIAL CONTAMINATION

The present invention relates to a method for treating raw human milk to produce treated human milk having undetectable levels of bacteria. The milk is skimmed to produce skim human milk then subjected to microfiltration to yield a filtrate which has undetectable levels of bacteria, including Bacillus cereus. The resultant human milk can be further processed, used and/or sold.

ACTIVATION OF CONDITIONALLY-EXPRESSED OLIGOSACCHARIDE PATHWAYS DURING FERMENTATION OF PROBIOTIC STRAINS
20200345055 · 2020-11-05 ·

This invention relates generally to methods and compositions to achieve and maintain a desirable in vivo phenotype during fermentation and processing of food products for human or animal consumption. The methods and compositions of this invention require an activator that acts as a metabolic trigger for Mammalian Milk Oligosaccharide (MMO) consumption phenotype without necessarily requiring oligosaccharides (i.e a sugar polymer of 3 or more monosaccharides) within the fermentation medium. Compositions containing a non-oligosaccharide activator (e.g. monomers and dimers, and combinations thereof) may be used in fermentation processes of this invention. Turning on MMO-related genes without the use of oligosaccharides is one method of preparing activated commensal bacteria. Embodiments of this invention relate to a composition and a method for preparing a stable, activated and dormant form of commensal bacteria such as: bifidobacteria, lactobacilli or pediococci; for consumption by animals or humans, who are nursing or otherwise receiving MMOs as part of their diet.
