METHOD FOR GENERATION OF CLEAN STEAM IN A CONTINOUS DIGESTER SYSTEM

The invention relates to an improved method for generating clean steam in a digester plant of a chemical pulp mill. By feeding a steam-to-steam converter (SSC) with venting steam from a black liquor flash tank (FT) as well as venting steam from chip steaming (SV) could the volume of clean steam produced be increased by over 40-50%, and to such an extent that the volume of clean steam covers the needs for preheating of chips in the digester system also in severe operational conditions. The total consumption of clean steam from the steam net of the mill may be reduced and used for other purposes such as electricity production, which meets the requirements for converting the pulp mill to an environmental friendly pulp mill.

The present invention relates to a method of producing steam at a digester plant of a chemical pulp mill. Black liquor is discharged from the digester at a first temperature and pressure. The black liquor is treated in a flash tank for generating flashed black liquor and flash steam at a second temperature and a second pressure, which are lower than the first temperature and pressure. The flashed black liquor is taken for further treatment to the evaporation plant. The flash steam is led to an indirect heat exchange contact with clean liquid in the reboiler for boiling the liquid and for generating steam. The steam is led from the reboiler into a fan or compressor for increasing the steam pressure to a third pressure, which is higher than the second pressure and for adjusting the pressure of the steam in the flash tank. Steam at a third pressure is used for pretreating comminuted cellulosic fiber material, such as chips, prior to cooking.

A method and an arrangement for generating process steam at a chemical pulp mill. Water is heated by subjecting it to an indirect heat exchange contact with steam in a heat exchanger. The water is heated with live steam produced in a steam boiler for generating process steam, whereby the live steam is condensed and the generated condensate is recovered. The process steam is subjected to a direct heat exchange contact with a material for heating the material. The water used for process steam production is obtained from secondary condensates, purified waste water and/or raw water. Process steam can be used in the treatment of cellulosic fibrous material, such as chips.

Heating of hydraulic digesters

A method and system for heating a hydraulic digester, such as a single-vessel hydraulic digester, which has a top separator, a level of chips and a liquid phase above the level of chips. The method includes: a. entraining chips in liquor to produce a slurry having a first temperature, b. feeding the slurry of chips to the digester through the top separator, c. supplying direct steam to the liquid phase between the level of chips and the top separator to heat the slurry to a second temperature for the impregnation stage, wherein the steam is fed by using at least one steam injector having a plurality of steam discharge openings; and d. heating the slurry to a third temperature and cooking the chips in a cooking zone, and withdrawing the cooked pulp from the bottom of the digester.
