METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CLEANING LAUNDRY
A laundry washing machine having a casing, a washing tub within the casing, a drum within the washing tub, a door to provide access to the drum, an additive loading and supply system configured to receive one or more cleaning products, a soaking chamber configured to receive and hold a unit dose package and at least a first volume of liquid, a tub supply pipe connecting the soaking chamber to the washing tub and/or drum, valves to dispense water into the soaking chamber, and a control unit operatively connected to the valves. The control unit has instructions that, when executed: cause the valves to supply the first volume of liquid to the soaking chamber, allow the first volume of liquid to reside in the soaking chamber for a predetermined amount of time, and subsequently release the first quantity of liquid from the soaking chamber to the tub supply pipe.
WASHING MACHINE APPLIANCE HAVING A SELECTIVE VENTILATION DAMPER
A washing machine appliance may include a cabinet, a tub, a wash basket, a front ventilation line, and a vent damper. The cabinet may include a front panel. The front panel may define an opening and a cabinet aperture spaced apart from the opening. The tub may be positioned within the cabinet. The wash basket may be rotatably mounted within the tub. The front ventilation line may be in fluid communication with the tub. The front ventilation line may define an air path from an inlet at the cabinet aperture to an outlet in fluid communication with the tub. The vent damper may be positioned along the front ventilation line in fluid communication therewith. The vent damper may be selectively movable between a first position restricting airflow through the front ventilation line and a second position permitting airflow through the front ventilation line.
LAUNDRY TREATING APPLIANCE AND METHOD OF OPERATION
A laundry treating appliance and method of operating a laundry treating appliance that includes wetting the laundry load in a drum according to a selected cycle of operation and determining a magnitude of imbalance of the wetted laundry load. A controller of the laundry treating appliance is configured to determine a first extraction speed for rotating the drum based on the magnitude of imbalance.
DRAIN PUMP FOR WASHING MACHINE APPLIANCE
A washing machine appliance and pumps therefore are provided. In one example aspect, a drain pump for a washing machine appliance includes features for improving pump performance and sand and debris management. The drain pump includes a pump housing and a pump body defining a pump chamber in which an impeller having a disk and blades is rotatably mounted. The pump body has a base defining a pump body recess. An outer rim of the base defines an outer periphery of the pump body recess. The disk is spaced from the outer rim so that sand and debris can be flushed from beneath the impeller. A sloped surface of the outer rim also facilitates removal of sand and debris from beneath the impeller. A labyrinth is defined beneath blades of the impeller to prevent sand and debris from entering an area between a seal and a shaft of the impeller.
WASHING MACHINE AND METHOD OF CONTROLLING THE SAME
A washing machine of the present disclosure includes a rotating tub configured to receive laundry, a motor configured to apply a driving force to the rotating tub, a detector configured to detect electrical signal of the motor; a controller configured to receive the electrical signal detected by the detector for a predetermined time when the speed of the motor during a dehydration stroke is a predetermined speed, obtain an average value of the electrical signal received during the predetermined time, check a ripple value in the received electrical signal, obtain an eccentric value corresponding to the obtained average value and the ripple value, and control an operation of the motor to stop or maintain the dehydration stroke based on the obtained eccentric value and a driver configured to drive the motor in respond to a control command of the controller.
SCENT DISPENSING ASSEMBLY FOR A WASHING MACHINE APPLIANCE
A scent dispensing assembly for a washing machine appliance includes a scent dispensing box defining a reservoir for receiving a scented material, such as aromatic oil. An ultrasonic diffuser may be mounted to a bottom of the scent dispensing box for generating a flow of scented vapor from the scented material which may pass into the wash chamber through an aperture in the scent dispensing box. The flow of scented vapor may be drawn into the wash chamber by spinning the wash basket to generate air circulation. In addition, a fan may be fluidly coupled with the reservoir for urging the flow of scented vapor into the wash chamber.
WASHING MACHINE APPLIANCE AND METHODS FOR PREVENTING SPIN OUT-OF-BALANCE CONDITIONS
A washing machine appliance and a method of preventing and mitigating out-of-balance conditions during a spin cycle are provided. In one example aspect, liquid is flowed into the tub and articles within a basket rotatably mounted in a tub of the washing machine appliance are agitated for a first time period. The movement of the tub during the first time period is measured and a trend line is calculated based on the movement of the tub over the first time period. A time remaining is calculated based at least in part on the trend line. If the time remaining is less than a time remaining threshold, and if the determined time remaining is less than the time remaining threshold, the articles within the basket are agitated by an extended agitation time period in which the washing machine appliance attempts to more evenly distribute the articles prior to a spin cycle.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CLEANING LAUNDRY
A laundry washing machine having: a casing, a washing tub located within the casing, a drum mounted within the washing tub and configured to rotate relative to the casing, a door attached to the casing and being openable to provide access to the drum, an additive loading and supply system configured to receive loose detergent, one or more valves configured to selectively provide water to the additive loading and supply system, a tub supply pipe fluidly connecting the additive loading and supply system to the drum, a receptacle configured to receive a unit dose package comprising a water soluble pouch containing a dose of cleaning product, and means for breaking the unit dose package outside the additive loading and supply system.
