Washing machine

The present disclosure relates to a washing machine to which a pulsator structure capable of preventing damage to a pulsator is applied. The washing machine includes a cabinet in which an opening for putting laundry is formed on a front side, a tub provided inside the cabinet, a drum rotatably provided inside the tub, a pulsator rotatably installed on the drum, and a cap coupled to the pulsator to cover at least a portion of a front surface thereof, wherein the cap includes a hole formed to discharge air.

The washing apparatus includes a tub, a drum configured to be rotatable in the tub, a pulsator configured to be rotatable in the drum, a driver configured to drive the drum and the pulsator, and a controller configured to control the driver to rotate the pulsator to a second direction while rotating the drum to a first direction. The controller controls the driver to drive the pulsator based on a position of laundry accommodated in the drum during a rotation of the drum.

The method comprises a water current forming step comprising performing a basket motion and a pulsate motion and a cooling step comprising lowering the temperature of the drive unit. The basket motion is configured to form water current in the wash water held in the tub and in the sub-drum simultaneously. The pulsate motion is configured to form water current in wash water held in the drum while the pulsator is driven. A performance timing of the cooling step is preset in at least one of the wash cycle or the rinse cycle.
