Carboxylated vinyl acetate/ethylene copolymer dispersions and uses thereof
The present invention relates to preparation of heterogeneous mixtures of (carboxylated) vinyl ester/ethylene dispersions, such as vinyl acetate/ethylene (VAE) dispersions with polyamideamine-epichlorohydrin (PAE) wet strength resins having a reduced amount of halogenated organic compounds, such as less than 1500 ppm. The dispersion offers extremely low free and bound formaldehyde levels combined with wet tensile strength for use in non-woven textile and paper applications.
METHODS FOR PRODUCING THROUGH-FLUID BONDED NONWOVEN WEBS
A method of creating a soft and lofty continuous fiber nonwoven web is provided. The method includes providing first and second, different molten polymers to a spinneret defining a plurality of orifices and flowing a fluid intermediate the spinneret and a moving porous member. The method includes using the fluid to draw the first and second molten polymers, in a direction toward the porous member, through at least some of the plurality of orifices to form a plurality of individual continuous fiber strands. The method includes depositing the continuous fiber strands onto the porous member at a first location to produce an intermediate continuous fiber nonwoven web, and varying, in at least two different zones, a vacuum force applied to the moving porous member and to the intermediate web downstream of the first location and without any heat applied.
Woven irrigation tubing
Woven irrigation tubing comprising a woven, extrusion coated & laminated tube formed of a high density polyethylene (HDPE) outer layer, a low density polyethylene (LDPE) middle layer and a linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) inner layer. The finished tubing is treated for ultraviolet resistance. The tubing is tied off at a distal end with a proximal end connected to a pressurized irrigation source. Watering holes are created in the tubing at spaced intervals and the resulting water streams are directed into parallel plowed furrows. The tubing is completely recyclable. The tubing is formed by manufacturing tape for the woven outer tubing cover, stretching the tape along its length to strengthen it, weaving the outer layer from the tape, flattening the woven outer layer, extrusion coating each surface of the outer layer with LDPE, laminating the LLDPE inner layer to the LDPE, reversing and winding the tubing for storage and distribution.
Cosmetic Sheet Masks For Improved Product Delivery
Nonwoven fabrics may be fashioned as topical delivery systems with increased and controllable rate of product release, while still possessing the requisite strength and durability for mass production and distribution. Such delivery systems comprise fabrics that are fashioned from micro-denier fibers that are produced by fibrillating bicomponent island-in-the-sea fibers. Facial masks made from these fabrics can achieve adequate product delivery in 3-5 minutes or less.
Heat-shrinkable woven raffia fabric, and methods thereof
A method for shrink wrapping two or more articles, the method comprising: providing a heat shrinkable woven raffia fabric formed from warp and weft tapes, the warp and weft tapes comprising at least 70 wt. %, based on the total wt. % of polymers present in the warp and weft tapes, of an ethylene/alpha-olefin copolymer having a density of 0.945 g/cc or greater and a melt index (I2), as determined according to ASTM D1238 (190° C., 2.16 kg), of from 0.01 to 2.0 g/10 min; wrapping the heat shrinkable woven raffia fabric around two or more articles to form a wrapped bundle; and heating the wrapped bundle to form a shrink wrapped bundle.
Strong Elastic Bicomponent Fiber Having Unique Handfeel
An elastomeric bicomponent fiber, including at least one sheath and a core, with non-blocking properties and a garment-like feel is provided. The core includes two or more polypropylene based elastomers and a secondary amide, and the sheath includes a non-elastomeric polyethylene. Further, the sheath can be present as a small portion of the total elastomeric composition, and the secondary amide can be present as a small portion of the core, while forming a bicomponent fiber with non-blocking properties and a garment-like feel, while maintaining good strength characteristics.
Self-Crimped Multi-Component Fibers and Methods of Making the Same
Self-crimped multi-component fibers (SMF) are provided that include (i) a first component comprising a first polymeric material, in which the first polymeric material comprises a first melt flow rate (MFR) that is less than 50 g/10 min; and (ii) a second component comprising a second polymeric material, in which the second component is different than the first component. The SMF includes one or more three-dimensional crimped portions. Also provided are nonwoven fabrics comprising a plurality of SMFs. Methods of manufacturing SMFs and nonwoven fabrics including SMFs are also provided.
Core-skin fiber comprising propylene ethylene random copolymer
A skin-core fiber having a skin of a propylene ethylene copolymer having: i) xylene soluble fraction from 14 wt % to 27 wt %; ii) intrinsic viscosity of the fraction soluble in xylene at 25° C. from 1.0 to 2.4 dl/g; iii) melt flow rate, MFR, from 12 g/10 min to 60 g/10 min; iv) an ethylene derived units content from 5.0 wt % to 12.0 wt %; v) the ethylene derived units content of the fraction insoluble in xylene from 2.5 wt % to 6.0 wt %; vi) the ethylene derived units content of the fraction soluble in xylene ranging from 15.2. wt % to 30.2 wt %; vii) C.sup.13 NMR sequences PEP on the fraction insoluble in xylene from 3.5 mol % to 5.5 mol %; and viii) C.sup.13 NMR sequences PEP on the fraction soluble in xylene from 11.0 mol % to 14.2 mol %; and a core of a polyethylene having a density between 0.940 g/cm.sup.3 to 0.975 g/cm.sup.3.
