Embodiments of the present invention comprise an enteral syringe that, in a horizontal orientation, delivers more consistent nutrition throughout the feeding cycle by using a mixing disc that creates a path for milk from fat accumulating on top of the syringe's barrel to flow to the syringe's outlet, whereupon it is mixed into an emulsion. The distal face of the syringe's piston can be coated with, or made out of, a lipophobic material, which prevents fat accumulation, especially towards the end of the feeding cycle.

The device includes a cartridge including a chamber for containing a plurality of pellets and a screw pump, wherein the screw pump is configured to receive pellets from the chamber and, upon rotation of the screw pump, transport the pellets from the chamber to be dispensed from the device via the screw pump. The device further includes a rotating member extending through the cartridge and configured to rotate the screw pump so as to dispense pellets therefrom. The cartridge further includes a tapered portion configured to guide pellets contained within the chamber into the screw pump for dispensing from the device via the screw pump as aforesaid. The screw pump is located outside of the tapered portion of the cartridge.

The presently described technology provides a pill crushing system. The pill crushing system may comprise a tablet crusher, a bowl-like structure, and an elongated cylindrical weighted rod. The tablet crusher may have an open mouth, a lower end of the tablet crusher and a cap. The lower end of the tablet crusher may have a closed base provided with a peripheral thread along surface wall of the closed base. The cap may have a peripheral thread for engagement with the peripheral thread of the tablet crusher. The threaded arrangement for the tablet crusher and the cap are such as to bring the cap close to the closed base of the tablet crusher into engagement with the cap upon turning the cap in one direction, whereby a pill interposed therebetween may be crushed. The bowl-like structure may have smooth surfaces such that a residue after a pill is grounded in the bowl-like structure is less than 2 wt % of the pill. The elongated cylindrical weighted rod may have smooth surfaces at one end.

The apparatus further includes one or more tines configured to translate with the nut. Each of the tine extends into a respective channel and is configured to push the units of the solid oral dosage form along the length of the respective channel to the outlet. Rotation of the shaft about its axis causes the units of the solid oral dosage form to be dispensed from the outlets of the channel(s) due to the translation of the one or more tines within the respective channel.
