ORAL ADMINISTRATION COUPLER FOR BACK-OF-MOUTH DELIVERY

An improved oral administration coupler for delivery of fluids such as medications and nutritional fluids. Example oral administration couplers have a first end with an applicator for oral delivery to an infant, and a second end with a coupling compatible with an enteral fluid delivery syringe. A fluid delivery conduit extends in fluid communication from the first end to the second end, to deliver fluid from the syringe to the infant. In some example embodiments, the coupler is configured for back-of-mouth delivery, and can comprise a generally elongate and at least partially flexible tube or straw.

Aspects of the present disclosure disclose a system for delivering medication. In one aspect, the disclosure is directed a kit that includes a medical dispensing device with a label with a series of zones of varying widths, with each of the zones corresponding to a pre-determined volumetric dose of the drug that is correlated to one of the physical characteristics of a patient. In one specific example, the label is further affixed to the medicine dispensing device such that the smallest dose of the drug to be administered corresponds to a first zone that is proximate an opening through which the drug is to be dispensed.

A SYRINGE ASSEMBLY

A syringe assembly (2) comprises a syringe barrel (4) comprising an inner chamber (14) filled or adapted to be filled with medicament, and a channel (18) in fluid communication with the chamber and through which medicament is dispensed. The assembly further comprises an outer sheath (6) configured to be removably attached to the syringe barrel, and comprising a projection (40) which is received by the channel when the outer sheath is attached to the barrel, thereby creating a seal, which prevents medicament from flowing therethrough.

Pacifier device for metered dosing of supplements to infants

Pacifier devices with internal reservoirs and metering units are described. The metering units provide single dosages of an internal supplement material during a fixed period of time. For example, embodiments of pacifier devices can be utilized to provide supplemental nutrition paste or gel to undernourished infants with metered dosages as appropriate to the supplement.

A device for rinsing a child's mouth and teeth comprising a pliable vessel having a front end, a back end, and side walls defining a hollow interior space inside the vessel. The side walls contain a first depression near the front end and a second depression opposite the first notch. The first depression contains at least one front opening in fluid communication with the interior space, angled to face the front surface of the top teeth, and at least one back opening positioned closer to the front end from the front opening, in fluid communication with the interior space, angled to face the back surface of the top teeth. A removable cap to removably close the vessel mounted at the back end. When the vessel is filled with water and the front end is inserted into a child's mouth so that the first depression receives the portion of the top teeth and the child's second depression receives the portion of the child's bottom teeth, manually squeezing the vessel pushes water through the front opening and the back opening to rinse the portion of the top teeth and the mouth without directly rinsing the bottom teeth.

A pacifier for rinsing an infant's or child's mouth and teeth having an aperture extending through its front lip shield and connecting to a port near the front of the pacifier. The port preferably connects the aperture to enclosed channels or tubes preferably contained entirely within the body walls of the pacifier. The enclosed channels or tubes allow fluid communication with beveled openings located on the top side of the pacifier. The beveled openings are preferably forwardly angled to point towards the lip shield and the interior surface of the infant's or child's upper teeth when the pacifier is placed in the infant's or child's mouth so that when water is pushed through the aperture, the water is pushed through the port, the enclosed channels, and out of the beveled openings, and rinses the mouth and teeth.

Device and method for collecting and dispensing colostrum

A device for collecting colostrum from a breast of a human and dispensing the colostrum to a newborn may include a colostrum collection member and a plunger. The colostrum collection member may include a funnel-shaped proximal portion with a wide, open end for facilitating collection of expressed colostrum, a narrow distal portion with a small-diameter opening for dispensing the expressed colostrum to the newborn, and a cylindrical barrel portion between the funnel-shaped proximal portion and the narrow distal portion. The plunger is configured for advancement through the wide, open end and the barrel portion of the collection member to force the colostrum out of the small-diameter opening.

Valved enteral administration assembly

An enteral administration assembly for administering fluids through an enteral device. The administration assembly comprising an inlet, an outlet, and a valve mechanism between the inlet and outlet. The inlet is configured to interlock with only an enteral device to form a sealed connection allowing the passage of fluid between the enteral device and the inlet. The assembly may include a valve or turbulating mechanism comprising a valve and at least one turbulator adapted to change the direction of fluid flowing through the assembly to prevent clogging and flocculation of administered substances.

Fluid dispenser

Described herein is a dispenser for dispensing fluid that, integrated into one hand piece, comprises a variable volume chamber with a plunger disposed within the chamber and a chamber inlet and outlet. The inlet and outlet communicate directly with a common chamber volume and the plunger translates in a linear direction relative to the chamber along a common longitudinal axis to expel fluid from the chamber (expel stroke) and/or draw fluid into the chamber (drawing stroke). The plunger is linked to a controller, a power source and a motor that drives translation movement of the plunger. The dispenser described herein offers a variety of advantages over the art including accurate dosing without the user having to manually regulate the dose amount—the amount to be dosed is related to the volume of fluid in the chamber which can be pre-set or varied automatically using sensors and controllers.
