ROLLERS FOR BAST FIBER BREAKING PROCESS
A method for processing bast fibers includes orienting the bast fibers substantially parallel to one another; and feeding the bast fibers into a roller system to at least one of bend and break stems of the bast fibers. The roller system includes a first roller including a first plurality of teeth and a second roller including a second plurality of teeth having a span distance. The first roller and the second roller are arranged such that each of the first plurality of teeth passes between adjacent pairs of the second plurality of teeth. The first plurality of teeth of the first roller and the second plurality of teeth of the second roller are configured to load the stems of the bast fibers in a shear mode to at least one of bend and break the stems.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR SEPARATING FIBRES FROM PLANTS
The present disclosure relates to separating fibres from plant straw where the separated fibres retain properties that are favourable for manufacturing textiles. Some embodiments of the present disclosure relate to an apparatus that comprises multiple separation-units for separating the desired fibres from the other constituent components of the plant straw. The apparatus may further comprise a recycling system for fluids used within the one or more separation units. Some embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a method for separating fibres from the other constituent components of the plant straw.

Apparatus and method for isolating bast bark and wood body from a bast plant stem
A method for isolating bast bark and wood bodies from a bast plant stem (18), whereby the bast plant stem (18) is formed internally by an essentially cylindrical wood body (9), and the wood body (9) is radially covered by a bast bark (3c) containing bast fibers, and is connected to the bast bark (3c) via a meristem tissue (11), which intends that the bast bark (3c) is separated by means of a tensile force (Fz) from the wood body (9), or at least from a constituent part of the wood body (9) through the division of the meristem tissue (11).

Fibrous plant stalk decorticator
A fibrous pant stalk decorticator is disclosed. The decorticator includes a feeding device a breaker roll having a first plurality of blades, and a skutcher roll having a second plurality of blades. The skutcher is positioned such that the first and second pluralities of blades overlap. A plurality of air outlets pass through the blades and are configured to provided pressurized air to the fibrous plant stalk as it is passed through the decorticator.

Method and apparatus for decorticating plant stalks
Method and apparatus for decortication of plant stalks, involving flattening the plant stalk into two substantially planar stalk sides adjoined at their edges; splitting the two substantially planar stalk sides one from the other; bending the flat stalk piece with the hurd on the outside of the bend and bast on the inside of the bend; separating the segments such that the bast pulls away from the hurd and spans the gap between the two segments; bringing a stripper into abutment with the spanning bast and moving the stripper so as to draw the bast, which strips the bast away from the hurd; and removing the bast from the stripper.
