A laundry treating apparatus includes: a drum defining a mounting slot and a lifter coupled to the mounting slot and disposed on an inner circumferential surface of the drum. A lifter frame includes: a frame base coupled to the inner circumferential surface; a frame upper plate; a frame sidewall that connects the frame upper plate to the frame base and that defines a lateral through-hole; and an insertion protrusion configured to be inserted into the mounting slot. The insertion protrusion includes a vertical portion that extends downward from a bottom surface of the frame base to the frame base and a catching portion that is curved from a lower end of the vertical portion toward an inside of the periphery of the frame base. A projection plane of the catching portion onto the frame base is positioned within a projection plane of the lateral through-hole onto the frame base.

A tub assembly for a washing machine appliance includes a tub and a wash basket rotatably mounted within the tub. The tub defines a central axis extending along an axial direction, a radial direction perpendicular to the central axis, and a circumferential direction extending around the central axis. The tub comprises a first material. The wash basket defines a wash chamber for receiving articles for washing. A reinforcement band encircles the tub generally along the circumferential direction. The reinforcement band comprises a second material having a greater strength than the first material of the tub.

A tub of a washing machine includes: a first case and a second case welded to each other; a first coupling surface formed along a circumference of the first case facing the second case; a second coupling surface formed along a circumference of the second case facing the first case and bonded to the first coupling surface; and a coupling protrusion that protrudes along the first coupling surface and includes a protruding end portion welded to the second coupling surface. The coupling protrusion includes: a main coupling protrusion protruding along the first coupling surface; and an auxiliary coupling protrusion protruding along the first coupling surface and outwardly spaced apart from the main coupling protrusion. Further, an opening for communicating a space between the auxiliary coupling protrusion and the main coupling protrusion to an outside of the tub is defined in a bottom of the tub.

A washing machine includes a tub and a drum. The tub includes a first case and a second case welded to each other; a first coupling surface extending along a circumference of the first case and facing the second case; a second coupling surface extending along a circumference of the second case and coupled to the first coupling surface; and a coupling protrusion that protrudes from the first coupling surface toward the second coupling surface and that includes a protruding end portion welded to the second coupling surface. The coupling protrusion includes: a main coupling protrusion that extends along the first coupling surface; and an auxiliary coupling protrusion that is disposed radially outward of the main coupling protrusion and spaced apart from the main coupling protrusion and that defines a discharge opening configured to discharge washing water entered between the main coupling protrusion and the auxiliary coupling protrusion.

A laundry machine includes first and second washing units including first and second tubs, respectively. First and second drums are mounted inside the first and second tubs, and first and second drive units drive rotations of the first and second drums around first and second rotational shafts, respectively. The second washing unit is arranged above the first washing unit and has a smaller laundry treating capacity than the first washing unit. The first rotational shaft is not parallel to the second rotational shaft. A first recess projects downward from a rear lower surface of the second tub and is configured to heat wash water in the second tub. A metal plate member is provided on an outside lower surface of the second tub, and partially extends to the rear of the second tub to expose a bottom surface of the first recess.

Systems for shipping and operation dampening an appliance having a housing, a moveable tub member inside the housing, and a dampening portion are provided. The housing includes at least one sidewall, with the dampening portion disposed at least partially between the moveable tub member and the at least one side wall. The dampening portion includes a resilient material having at least one surface extending at least partially along the sidewall or tub member.
