The present invention relates to a washing machine comprising: a tub provided inside a cabinet and storing washing water therein; and a plurality of super-hydrophobic micro-protrusions formed on the inner surface of the tub to remove residual water within the tub. Accordingly, since the plurality of super-hydrophobic micro-protrusions are formed on the inner surface of the tub, the residual water remaining inside the tub can be cleanly removed using the lotus effect, thereby maintaining a clean state of the washing machine.

An extruded tub is provided in the interior and mounted to the chassis including a sump aperture, and defining a liquid chamber. A sump is provided in the sump aperture. A rotatable drum is located within the tub to define a treating chamber.

A laundry appliance includes a rotating drum that receives laundry to be treated. A motor rotates a drive shaft about a vertical axis and engages the rotating drum at a base. A coupler is disposed within an upper portion of the base and that rests upon the drive shaft to transfer rotational forces from the drive shaft to the drum. A tub assembly for a washing machine appliance includes a tub and a wash basket rotatably mounted within the tub. The tub comprises a first material. The wash basket defines a wash chamber for receiving articles for washing. A reinforcement band encircles the tub generally along the circumferential direction. The reinforcement band comprises a second material having a greater strength than the first material of the tub.
