SELF HEALING ELEVATOR LOAD BEARING MEMBER
An elevator load bearing member includes a plurality of load bearing cords and a jacket at least partially surrounding the cords. The jacket includes a layer received against the cords, and a self-healing component. A method of making an elevator load bearing member is also disclosed.
RENEWABLE NATURAL FIBER FISHING LINE
The disclosure provides embodiments of a fishing line that includes renewable natural fibers, and a renewable natural coating. Some of the embodiments of the disclosed fishing line include, for example, a single strand line, or a braided or plaited line made from multiple threads, strands or yarns. Other embodiments of the disclosed fishing line are degradable over a predetermined timeline. These embodiments are preferred because of the low environmental impact of the disclosed fishing lines.
FOOD TRAY FOR PASSENGER SEAT
A seating assembly for a passenger aircraft. The seat system may include at least one passenger seat and a seat back tray assembly mounted onto the back of the passenger seat and movable between a first storage position and a second deployed position. The tray assembly may include (i) a tray having a first and second attachment arm mounted onto the tray for installing the tray onto the back of a seat system; (ii) a sliding mechanism installed on the first and second attachment arms adapted for providing movement between a first forward position and a second aft position to a seated passenger parallel to the first and second attachment arms; and (iii) an alignment mechanism attached to the sliding mechanism for maintaining the tray in a horizontally aligned relationship during the movement. The seat system may further include a PED holder adapted to hold a personal electronic device.
Engineered fiber bundles for reinforcing composite materials
The present invention relates to an engineered fiber bundle for reinforcement of composite materials. Specifically, the engineered fiber bundles of the present invention enhance the tensile behavior of the composites reinforced with the fiber bundles. Methods of making the same are further provided.
TENSION MEMBER AND BELT FOR ELEVATOR SYSTEM
A tension member for an elevator system includes a rope formed from a plurality of steel fibers extending along the length of the tension member. A coating at least partially encapsulates the rope. The coating includes a core/shell block copolymer composition. The tension member can be used in a belt and the belt can be used in an elevator system.
Belt with corrugated material
An elevator system includes a hoistway, an elevator car movable along the hoistway, and one or more belts operably connected to the elevator car to propel the elevator car along the hoistway. A belt of the one or more belts includes one or more tension elements extending along a belt length, and a jacket at least partially encapsulating the one or more tension elements. The jacket includes a jacket base formed from a first material and one or more insert layers embedded in the jacket base material. The one or more insert layers have a corrugated shape along the belt length, and are formed from a second material different from the first material.
ELEVATOR LOAD BEARING MEMBER HAVING A JACKET INCLUDING A FLUOROPOLYMER
An illustrative example embodiment of an elevator load bearing member includes a plurality of load bearing cords and a jacket at least partially surrounding the cords. The jacket includes an inner portion received on the cords and a fluoropolymer outer portion that establishes a fire-resistant exterior of the jacket.
Woven elevator belt with coating
A method of forming a belt for suspending and/or driving an elevator car includes arraying a plurality of tension elements longitudinally along a belt and interlacing a plurality of warp fibers and a plurality of weft fibers with the plurality of tension elements to form a composite belt structure. A coating is applied to at least partially encapsulate the composite belt structure. The coating includes a base coating material and at least one additive mixed with the base coating material to improve an operational characteristic of the belt.
Apparatus for recognizing the replacement state of a high-strength fiber rope for lifting gear
The present invention relates to an apparatus for recognizing the replacement state of a high-strength fiber rope for lifting gear such as cranes as well as to a lifting gear such as a crane in which such a high-strength fiber rope is installed. It is the underlying object of the present invention to provide an improved apparatus for determining the replacement state of a high-strength fiber rope and to provide improved lifting gear having such a fiber rope that avoid the disadvantages of the prior art and further develop the latter in an advantageous manner. To be able to more easily determine the respective degree of damage of the jacket and thus the closeness to the imminent replacement state of the rope, the apparatus is provided with a reference damage memory in which reference representations of the rope with different degrees of damage to the jacket of the rope are contained to allow for an optical comparison of an actual image of the rope with the stored reference representations and thus, determination of the replacement state.
Coated PC steel stranded cable
A coated PC steel stranded cable includes: a stranded cable in which a plurality of elemental wires each composed of steel are twisted together; an anti-corrosive coating having an outer circumferential portion that coats an outer circumference of the stranded cable; an outer coating that coats an outer circumference of the anti-corrosive coating; and an optical fiber provided at a position inwardly of an outer circumferential surface of the outer coating and corresponding to a strand groove in the stranded cable so as to follow expansion and contraction of the stranded cable.
