TIRE
The present invention provides a tire that uses an elastomer-metal cord composite, which composite is obtained by coating metal cords with an elastomer, each metal cord being composed of a bundle of metal filaments arranged without being twisted, and which composite is capable of highly improving the performance of the tire. The above-described tire is a tire (100) including a belt (105) which includes at least two belt layers (105a) and (105b). In this tire, the belt layers (105a) and (105b) are each obtained by coating metal cords (2) with an elastomer (3), each metal cord (2) being composed of a bundle of a plurality of metal filaments (1) arranged in a row without being twisted; the metal filaments (1) are shaped, and at least one pair of adjacent metal filaments (1) in the metal filaments (1) have different phases from each other; each of the belt layers (105a) and (105b) has a thickness of more than 0.30 mm and less than 1.00 mm; and the distance in the tire radial direction between the metal cords (2) in the two adjacent belt layers (105a) and (105b) is 0.10 mm or more and 1.20 mm or less, at the center of the tire.
Elevator system suspension member
A belt for suspending and/or driving an elevator system component include one or more metallic cord tension elements extending along a length of the belt, and one or more non-metallic tension elements extending along a length of the belt. Each non-metallic tension element is formed from a non-metallic material. The one or more metallic cord tension elements and the one or more non-metallic tension elements are arrayed laterally across a lateral width of the belt. The belt may be used in an elevator system including a hoistway, a drive machine having a traction sheave coupled thereto, an elevator car movable within the hoistway. The belt is operably connected to the elevator car and interactive with the traction sheave to suspend and/or drive the elevator car along the hoistway.
TIRE WITH SPECIFIED CORD CONSTRUCTION
A cord reinforces a rubber article. The cord includes a core strand having a two-layer twisted layer structure formed by intertwining a plurality of filaments, a plurality sheath strands intertwined around the core strand, the sheath strands having a twisted layer structure formed by intertwining a plurality of filaments, and a wrap wire applied around the core strand and at least one of the sheath strands. The wrap wire creating a permanent and stable minimum gap between the core strand and the sheath strands.
ELECTRIFIED-CABLE SYSTEM FOR TRANSIT AND METHOD OF MAKING SAME
Disclosed herein is a transport system, comprising an electrified cable system, a carriage supported by a non-electrified static cable, an electrical drive system incorporated into the carriage, the electrical drive system being utilized to move the carriage along the non-electrified static cable, a transconnector configured to supply electrical power to the carriage, and a power distribution panel. Corresponding methods of making and using the system also are disclosed.

Hybrid hoisting cable, method of forming the same, and winch using such a cable
The invention concerns a hoisting cable formed of a steel core coated at its periphery with a textile sheath, wherein said textile sheath is a sheath directly braided on the steel core and made of an abrasion-resistant synthetic material.
ELONGATION AND HEAT INDICATING SYNTHETIC FIBER ROPE
Disclosed is a non-steel strength membered high strength cable easily monitored for heat and elongation comprising a length of a core-cable (10), the length of core-cable (10) including at least two fiber-optic conductors (2) that are: (i) disposed in a helical shape; and (ii) completely encased in a solid, flexible material.
One fiber-optic conductor capable of transmitting at least Raman backscattering and the other fiber-optic conductor capable of transmitting at least Brillouin scattering.
A combination of the cable (10): (i) with an interrogator that can read and interpret Raman backscattering coupled to and communicating with the fiber optic conductor that is capable of transmitting at least Raman backscattering; and (ii) another interrogator that can read and interpret Brillouin scattering coupled to and communicating with the fiber optic conductor that is capable of transmitting at least Brillouin scattering;
permits ascertaining the elongation of the cable, without using loose tube fiber-opticplacement.

STEEL CORD WITH A BRASS COATING ENRICHED WITH IRON PARTICLES
A steel cord that is suitable for reinforcing rubber articles such as tires. The inventive steel cord enables to completely eliminate the presence of cobalt in a tire when combined with the proper cobalt free compound. Advantageously the steel cord adheres equally well to rubbers containing organic cobalt salts. The inventive wire is different from prior art steel cords in that the brass coating now comprises iron particles. The iron particles have a size between 10 nm and 10 000 nm. The presence of iron mitigates the adhesion retention loss of the rubber to steel cord bond in a hot and humid environment. It is a further advantage that the inventive steel cord does not contain any intentionally added cobalt thereby contributing to the elimination of harmful substances in the production area as well as the environment.
