Online treated sealable and peelable medical paper for medical sterilization packaging
A method and apparatus for manufacturing medical paper for medical sterilization packaging, medical paper and medical sterilization packaging are disclosed. A paper web is formed of fibrous substrate comprising cellulosic fibers and optionally synthetic fibers, with opposite first and second sides. On-line with the forming of the paper web, reinforcing material is applied on the first side and pressed into structure of the paper web such that delamination resistance of the structure is increased. Sealing material is applied on the second side of the paper web on-line with the forming of the paper web.
Biodegradable Straws and Methods of Making Biodegradable Straws
Paper products can be made from cellulose derived from corn husks. A method of making paper products may include obtaining corn husks, extracting cellulose fiber pulp from the corn husks, forming a paper sheet from the extracted cellulose fiber pulp, adding a chitosan acetic acid solution having a concentration of at least 5 wt. % chitosan to the paper sheet, forming the paper product from the paper sheet, and coating the paper product with a paraffin wax.

Composition for providing grease and water resistant properties without use of a fluorinated compound, method of making the composition, and pulp molded article made by the method thereof
A food-safe composition and resulting article with grease and water resistance properties comprised of a petroleum wax based aqueous emulsion, a food-safe coating formulation, and an alkyl ketene dimer (AKD), wherein the composition exhibits grease and water resistant properties without a fluorinated compound present in the composition. A method of making the composition and a method of using the composition to form pulp molded articles such as food-safe containers and other pulp-based food packaging and utensils are provided.
ENVIRONMENTALLY-FRIENDLY HEAT SEALABLE AQUEOUS BARRIER COATING FOR CELLULOSIC SUBSTRATE AND METHODS OF MAKING AND USING THE SAME
An aqueous barrier coat for formable cellulosic substrates comprises a blend of A) at least one aqueous polymer binder dispersion at 40 wt % to 95 wt %, B) at least one active filler at 3 wt % to 30 wt % and, C) one or more optional additives, such as wetting additives, dispersants, thickeners, defoamers, and crosslinkers. Crystallinity is present in at least one of the polymer binder dispersion and active filler particle. The resulting dried film has a shear storage modulus between 50° C. and 60° C. in the range of 1.5×10.sup.6 to 1×10.sup.9 Pascals, a shear storage modulus between 80° C. and 90° C. in the range of 2×10.sup.5 to 5×10.sup.7 Pascals, and a shear storage modulus between 100° C. and 110° C. is in the range of 5×10.sup.3 to 1×10.sup.6 Pascals. The total weight % of crystalline polymer binder and the crystalline active filler combined is greater than 50%.
