DEVICE, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS OF APPLYING A TREATMENT SOLUTION TO A TREATMENT SITE
A handheld portable electrostatic device for electrostatically applying a treatment solution to a treatment site of a patient, including a housing and a cartridge removably disposed in the housing. The cartridge includes a cartridge housing and a nozzle for applying the treatment solution. An electrostatic module is provided to electrostatically charge and ionize molecules of the treatment solution of the cartridge. The treatment solution is configured to flow toward the nozzle whereby at least one electrode electrically connected to the electrostatic module physically contacts the treatment solution as it flows therethrough and applies an electrical charge to the treatment solution.
ELECTROSPUN PTFE COATED STENT AND METHOD OF USE
A stent or other prosthesis may be formed by coating a single continuous wire scaffold with a polymer coating. The polymer coating may consist of layers of electrospun polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). Electrospun PTFE of certain porosities may permit endothelial cell growth within the prosthesis.
ELECTROSPINNING ALIGNMENT APPARATUS
Provided is an electrospinning alignment apparatus enabling mass production of nanofiber membranes by simultaneously nanofibers that are spun in alignment in one direction on a transferred carrier and nanofibers that are randomly spun.
TRANSPARENT COMPOSITE NANO-FIBRE BASED MULTI-LAYER TEXTILE
A composite multi-layer textile, comprising at least one nanofibre layer with nanofibres with diameters below 100 nm and one support layer with microfibres with diameters below three microns, wherein the layers were produced by electrospinning. The multi-layer textile shows a general transmittance at #=550 nm greater than 60%, which shows improved properties concerning transparency, breathability and robustness. This is achieved in that the at least one nanofibre layer and the support layer are fused, forming solid domains in the multi-layer textile, at closed areas of a pattern used in the production process, wherein the solid domains are separated from each other or connected, showing defined shapes, with regular or irregular spatial distribution, while the fibre morphology of nanofibres of the nanofibre layer and microfibres of support layer is preserved on top of the open areas beside the solid domains, attaining a general transmittance greater than that given by the sum of the individual layers.
BREATHABLE WATER RESISTANT FILM
A breathable water resistant film provided by the present disclosure includes a base cloth and a nanofiber layer disposed on the base cloth, wherein the nanofiber layer is formed by an electrospinning solution including a first additive and a second additive. The first additive includes a nylon copolymer and an alcohol, and the second additive includes a polysilazane resin and a perfluoropolyether-modified polysilazane resin.
NANOMATERIAL COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS OF MAKING THE SAME
Nanoparticle compositions, electrospun nonwoven material compositions, and methods of making the same are disclosed. The nanoparticles may be made by electrospinning a composition including a sacrificial polymer and first and second ion species into fibers, and decomposing at least a portion of the sacrificial polymer. The nanoparticles may include an electroactive compound. The nanoparticles may include a catalytically active compound. The nanoparticles may further be included in a composition prepared into a nonwoven material. The nonwoven material may be used to prepare battery compositions. The battery compositions may include an electrode that includes the nanoparticles.
NANOSTRUCTURED FIBROUS MEMBRANES FOR MEMBRANE DISTILLATION
Membranes suitable for use in membrane distillation are provided. Such membranes may include nano-fibrous layers with adjustable pore sizes. The membranes may include a hydrophobic nano fibrous scaffold and a thin hydrophilic protecting layer that can significantly reduce fouling and scaling problems.
PET SOLUTIONS AND METHODS OF MAKING PET SOLUTIONS FOR MEDICAL DEVICES
A method of making a solution including poly(ethylene terephthalate). The method includes dissolving poly(ethylene terephthalate) in a solvent mixture to form a solution, the solvent mixture including two solvent components. A Hansen Solubility Parameter Distance between the solvent mixture and HSP coordinates having a dispersion HSP of 18.02 MPa.sup.0.5, a polar HSP of 5.56 MPa.sup.0.5, and a hydrogen bonding HSP of 14.27 MPa.sup.0.5 is less than about 2 MPa.sup.0.5.
METHOD AND APPARATUS TO COAT A METAL IMPLANT WITH ELECTROSPUN NANOFIBER MATRIX
The present invention implements a set of grooves/ridges created on Ti at the circumferential direction to increase surface area of implant in contact with bone. These grooves/ridges protect nanofiber matrix (NFM) made with Polycaprolactone (PCL) electrospun nanofiber (ENF) and collagen at the groove from physiological loading. Controlled fabrication of a ridge made with titanium nitride (TiN) around the circumference of Ti is provided using a plasma nitride deposition technique. PCL ENF may be deposited along the sub-micrometer grooves using the electrospin setup disclosed. The method provides for fabrication of microgroove on Ti using machining or TiN deposition and filling the microgrooves with the NFM. This method has proven through experimentation to be successful in increasing in vivo mechanical stability and promoting osseointegration on Ti implants. The immobilization of MgO NP and FN with the PCL-CG NFM on microgrooved Ti as provided in the invention optimizes biological performances of Ti.
