CABLE FOR A TIRE
20200347547 · 2020-11-05 ·

A cable as may be used in a tire, including a pneumatic tire. The cable is constructed in a manner that can provide a desired stiffness to a tire as well as a certain amount of structural elongation. The cable can be provided in a manner that does not necessarily result in an increase in the overall weight of the tire as would occur by e.g., increasing the diameter of a conventional cable construction.

HOLLOW STRANDED WIRE

A hollow stranded wire (2) has a first layers (4) and second layers (6). The second layer is located outside the first layer. The first layer is formed by twisting eight first element wires (8) which are flat wires. The second layer is formed by twisting eight second element wires (10) which are flat wires. A ratio (Ww/Tw) of a width Ww to a thickness Tw of each flat wire is from 2 to 11. A twisting direction of the second element wires is opposite that of the first element wires. A twisting angle of each first element wire is not greater than 85. A twisting angle of each second element wire is not greater than 85. A ratio (D/T) of an average diameter D to a thickness T of the hollow stranded wire is not less than 5 and not greater than 20.

STEEL CORD AND TIRE

A steel cord includes a two-layer stranded construction including a core in which two or three core filaments are twisted, and including a one-layer outer sheath in which outer sheath filaments are helically wound around the core and along a longitudinal direction of the core. The core filaments have same filament diameters as the outer sheath filaments, length of lay for the core is same as length of lay for the outer sheath, and length of lay/filament diameter, which indicates a ratio of length of lay to a filament diameter, is between 50 and 75. Two or more filaments selected from among the core filaments and the outer sheath filaments, are crimped filaments each including bent sections and non-bent sections that are repeatedly disposed along the longitudinal direction.

High modulus textile cord with an at least triple twist

A high modulus textile cord (50) with at least triple twist (T1, T2, T3) comprises at least N strands (20a, 20b, 20c, 20d), N being greater than 1, twisted together with a final twist T3 and a final direction D2, each strand being made up of M pre-strands (10a, 10b, 10c), M being greater than 1, themselves twisted together with an intermediate twist T2 (T2a, T2b, T2c, T2d) and an intermediate direction D1 opposite to D2, each pre-strand itself consisting of a yarn (5) which has been twisted on itself beforehand with an initial twist T1 (T1a, T1b, T1c) and the direction D1, in which at least half of the N times M yarns have an initial elastic modulus denoted Mi which is greater than 2000 cN/tex. This textile cord can advantageously be used as a reinforcer in tires for vehicles, particularly in the belt or carcass reinforcement of these tires.

STRANDED CONDUCTOR AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING STRANDED CONDUCTOR

According to embodiments of the present invention, a stranded conductor is formed in which the occurrence of defects, such as strand unevenness of filaments and outward protrusion of filaments, is inhibited. According to embodiments of the present invention, a stranded conductor (1a) includes soft filaments (2a) stranded together. The soft filaments (2a) include a soft filament made of an aluminum material, disposed along a center (101), and include six soft filaments, twelve soft filaments, and eighteen soft filaments made of an aluminum material, disposed around and concentrically with the center. The filaments are softened filaments that are softened. A lay length (Pa) is from 6.2 times to 15.7 times a conductor diameter of the stranded conductor.
