Methods of Use of Glucosamine for Increasing Nitrogen Retention
20220395522 · 2022-12-15 ·

Methods of use and compositions comprising a source of glucosamine are disclosed. The administration of the compositions provides for favorable trends towards improvements in gastrointestinal functional outcomes. The use of the glucosamine compositions increases nitrogen retention, as well as prevent, eliminate, and/or reduce bacterial diversity within the gastrointestinal microbiome. The source of glucosamine may be non-shellfish derived, and provide significant improvements in gastrointestinal symptoms such as, stomach bloating, constipation, and hard stools.

INHIBITING DIHYDROFOLATE REDUCTASE IN A MICROORGANISM

The present invention can inhibit dihydrofolate reductase in a microorganism. In some aspects, it may also suppress pigment formation in gram negative bacteria. The suppression of pigment formation can also mediate virulence suppression on other Gram negative bacteria. As such, the compounds may be used for microbial infections. The compounds can potentiate the effects of one or more antimicrobial agents when co-administered. Compositions including the compounds are provided. The composition can further include at least one antibiotic.

The present invention relates to a formulation comprising blends of formulations (or colloidal dispersions) and its topical application. The formulation comprises at least two different types of colloidal dispersion comprising deformable colloidal particles, wherein the deformable colloidal particles comprise a non-ionic surfactant and/or a phospholipid. The deformable colloidal particles of the invention may comprise an agent of interest (AOI) or may be free of an AOI. The formulation may comprise an AOI that is not associated with the deformable colloidal particles. The present invention also includes kits comprising the formulation of the present invention and the use of the formulation in medicine, skin care and cosmetics.
