Synthetic disugar hydrocarbons as natural analogs to control microbial behaviors

Synthetic disaccharide hydrocarbons (DSHs) that reactive bacterials swarming motility and inhibit bacterial adhesion and biofilm formation. A library of DSHs were tested in several experiment for the impact on various Pseudomonas aeruginosa populations and compared against existing compounds to determine efficacy and utility. Certain DSHs were also to determine the ability to clear bacteria in a mouse pneumonia model.

ACTIVE AGENT FOR USE IN HAIR GROWTH REGULATION
20220168206 · 2022-06-02 ·

An active agent for use in hair growth regulation, particularly for use in the treatment of hair growth (stimulation or inhibition), wherein the active agent activates, enhances, inactivates, blocks or dampens the cellular response of the taste receptor TAS2R4 or interferes with the expression of the receptor. Furthermore, the present invention is directed to compositions for use as a cosmetic or medicament in the treatment of hair growth the composition comprising at least one of the aforementioned active agents and at least one auxiliary agent. In addition, a non-therapeutic method of hair growth regulation is disclosed, wherein an effective amount of at least one of the aforementioned active agents is administered to a subject.

Compounds for Treating and Preventing Net Associated Complications

The present invention relates to compounds with high chemical stability and methods for inhibiting the pathological activity of NETs in a subject. In particular, the invention relates to compounds with high chemical stability, uses thereof and methods for inhibiting or ameliorating NET mediated ailments (such as, for example, sepsis, systemic immune response syndrome (SIRS) and ischemia reperfusion injury (IRI)). More particularly, the invention relates to methods and uses of a polyanionic sulfated cellobioside modified with a small uncharged glycosidically linked substituent at its reducing terminus, wherein the presence of the substituent results in a molecule with high chemical stability without affecting the ability of the molecule to be effective in the therapy of NET mediated ailments. For example, the present invention relates to methods and uses of β-O-methyl cellobioside sulfate (mCBS) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof (e.g., mCBS.Na), in the therapy of a range of NET mediated ailments in subjects.
