MACHINE AND METHOD FOR PROFILING AND DISTRIBUTING BALLAST OF A TRACK

The invention relates to a machine for profiling and distributing ballast of a track, having a frame supported on on-track undercarriages and lateral ballast pick-up devices which are adjustably fastened to the frame, wherein each ballast pick-up device is actuated by a conveyor drive. In this, the machine is designed in such a way that, in an inoperative position, the upper contours of the machine are arranged below a delimiting plane which slopes downward in the working direction and extends through a field of vision of a driver's cabin of a rail vehicle to be coupled to the machine at the rear end thereof. Thus, the machine can be employed as a leading wagon of the rail vehicle, wherein sufficient visibility from the driver's cabin to the track is ensured.

A machine for repairing a ballast bed has an undercutter that defines a direction of movement of the repairing machine, and a distributor for dividing a flow of ballast entering from the undercutter into a rear flow of exiting ballast and a separate front flow of exiting ballast. At least one rear screening machine is positioned behind the undercutter in the direction of movement and is fed by the rear flow of exiting ballst. At least one front screening machine is positioned in front of the undercutter and fed by the front flow of exiting ballast, and the distributor has a variator for varying the ratio between the separate first and the second flows of exiting ballast.

SYSTEM, METHOD AND APPARTUS FOR IN-SITU, DYNAMIC REPAIR OF A RAILROAD

A device for in-situ, dynamic repair of a railroad can include two connected machines. A first one of machines can be a track lifting unit that can clamp the rails of the railroad and lift the track in its entirety out of its track bed. The first machine also can plow ballast away from and/or toward the rails, and level the track bed for the rails before they are lowered. In addition, the track lifting unit can remove selected railroad ties. The second machine can include a power unit that can provide hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical power to both machines. The power unit also can provide track stabilization by settling ballast and can free debris from the railroad while it is raised.

The exposed ballast bed (3), forming a renewal gap (17), is cleaned by a cleaning machine (11), spoil (32) accruing in the process is transported forward underneath the track panels (15) deposited on the track panel wagons (8), and stored in hopper cars (10). New rails (29), pre-deposited underneath new sleepers (27) positioned on sleeper wagons (14), are pulled forward into the renewal gap (17) by the cleaning machine (11) and deposited on the cleaned ballast bed (3). The new sleepers (27) are laid down on the cleaned ballast bed and connected to the new rails (29) lifted off the ballast bed (3).

The system may include a take-up system connecting the sidewalls. Each of the rail cars may include a frame and a plurality of pulleys connected to the frame may support the trough.

A ground stabilisation system is used for stabilising a subgrade region which includes a peat layer under a railway having rails supported across rail ties on a ballast layer over the subgrade region. The system uses a plurality of drain members submerged in an upright orientation within the peat layer of the subgrade region in which each drain member has a hollow interior and a plurality of openings therein which allow communication of fluid from the peat layer surrounding the drain member into the hollow interior of the drain member so as to be arranged to reduce fluid pressure in the peat layer when the peat layer undergoes dynamic loading from a passing train. Each drain member is a semi-rigid pipe having an axial stiffness greater than a dynamic stiffness of the peat layer to reduce loading on the peat layer under dynamic loading from a passing train.
