Track maintenance machine and method for tamping sleepers of a track

The invention relates to a track maintenance machine having a tamping unit for tamping sleepers of a track lying in a ballast bed, including a tool carrier which is mounted for vertical adjustment on an assembly frame and on which tamping tools are arranged so as to be squeezable towards one another, wherein the tool carrier is coupled to a vertical adjustment drive actuated by means of a control device. In this, a control circuit is set up for controlling a lowering motion of the tool carrier, the control circuit including a controller, a setting device for the vertical adjustment drive and a measuring device for recording the lowering motion. With this, it is possible to provide an optimal course for the lowering motion.

METHOD AND TRACK TAMPING MACHINE FOR TAMPING A TRACK

The invention relates to a method for tamping a plurality of sleepers of a track supported in a ballast bed by means of a plurality of tamping units arranged one behind the other on a machine frame of a track tamping machine with tamping tools opposite each other in pairs, with only one sleeper being tamped by means of the respective tamping unit during a tamping process. In this context, a control device for actuating longitudinal actuators is given a sleeper spacing of the sleepers to be tamped, with the tamping units being positioned towards each other in the longitudinal direction of the machine by means of the longitudinal actuators prior to a tamping process in order to adjust the positions of the tamping units to the given sleeper spacing, and with sleepers not arranged directly one behind the other being tamped during the tamping process. Due to the distance of the tamping units from each other in the longitudinal direction of the machine by more than one sleeper spacing respectively, sufficient free space to adjust to different sleeper spacings is available.

METHOD FOR COMPACTING THE BALLAST BED OF A TRACK, AND TAMPING UNIT

Ballast (3) located underneath of sleepers of a track is compacted by immersion and squeezing of compacting tools (7) set in vibrations. The vibrations introduced into the ballast (3) during the compacting process are registered as a measure of the ballast compaction. Thus, it is possible to obtain a homogenously compacted track even in the event of different ballast characteristics.

The present disclosure generally relates to an improved tamping operation where a rail tamping machine advances at different speeds during different stages of tamping and workhead assembly operation. The workhead assembly is also capable of moving longitudinally relative to the rail tamping machine frame when it is detected that the rail tamping machine is at an appropriate distance from a reference point. Related methods of tamping are also described.

VIBRATION PISTON ARRANGEMENT IN THE SQUEEZING CYLINDER OF A TRACK TAMPER
20180297081 · 2018-10-18 ·

For tamping a track, tamping tines are squeezed towards one another in pairs by a squeezing cylinder. A vibration is superimposed on a linear lift motion of a squeezing piston movable in the squeezing cylinder. The vibration is generated by a vibration piston which is arranged in the squeezing cylinder and which is movable independently of the squeezing piston.

A tamper tool is provided for use in adjusting railroad ballast and constructed and arranged for use with a tamper tool holder attached to a railroad tamping machine. Included on the tool is a shaft with a first portion, a second portion, and a central portion disposed between the first and second portions, and a front surface, a rear surface, and two side surfaces. The first portion has through bores extending from the front surface to the rear surface, and the central portion has a first cross-section at an upper end, a second cross-section at a lower end. An area of the first cross-section is greater than an area of the second cross-section, and the shaft tapers between the first cross-section and the second cross-section. A paddle for tamping is attached at a free end of the second portion.

Method and track maintenance machine for treatment of a ballast track

The invention relates to a method for treatment of a ballast track by means of track maintenance machine which comprises a lifting unit, having gripping rollers for gripping a track grid formed of rails and sleepers and lifting drives for lifting the track grid, and a measuring system for comparing to a target position of the track, wherein the lifting unit is set in vibration by means of a vibration exciter and the vibration is transmitted to the track grid, wherein the lifting unit is controlled by means of a control device in such a way that, during a lifting operation, the lifting unit is set in vibration, and the track grid is first lifted to above the target position and subsequently lowered to the target position. By means of the method according to the invention it is possible to carry out in a simple manner a lifting of the track grid with simultaneous stabilization of the track position.

Method and system for monitoring the loading of a tamping unit

The invention relates to a method for load monitoring of a tamping unit of a track maintenance machine, wherein at least one sensor is arranged for recording a load on the tamping unit. In this, measuring data recorded by means of the sensor are stored over a time period (T) in an evaluation device, wherein at least one load-time progression for cyclical penetration operations of the tamping unit into a ballast bed is derived from the stored measuring data. With this, conclusions can be drawn as to the load stress situation of the tamping unit and the condition of the ballast bed.
