Apparatus and method for preparing asphalt and aggregate mixture
An asphalt and aggregate mixture and methods for preparing and using same are provided which utilize solid phase auto regenerative cohesion and homogenization by liquid asphalt oligopolymerization technologies. The mixtures are suitable for use in installing asphalt/concrete pavement, repairing asphalt/concrete pavement, and providing overlays to existing asphalt/concrete pavement. The slurries can contain recycled asphalt/concrete pavement subject to treatment.
DISPLAY UNIT FOR ROAD MACHINE
A display unit for a road machine includes a display and processing circuitry. The road machine includes a tractor, a hopper installed in front of the tractor to receive a paving material, a conveyor configured to feed the paving material in the hopper to the back side of the tractor, a screw configured to lay and spread the paving material fed by the conveyor behind the tractor, a screed configured to lay and level the paving material laid and spread by the screw behind the screw, and an information obtaining device configured to obtain information on road pavement. The processing circuitry of the display unit is configured to predict a future event based on the information on the road pavement obtained by the information obtaining device, and to display information on the event on a road map on the display.
Sealant packaging and method
An improved sealant packaging and method for use with sealing joints and cracks in pavement and parking lots is provided. Liquid sealant material is poured by volume into a container draped with a sheet. Container is cooled so that the sealant becomes a solid block, with the sheet adhered to the sides of the sealant block such that the sheet forms a container for the sealant. The sheet also acts a release liner for easily removing the sealant block from the container. Two or more contained blocks are stacked together, forming a package of two or more blocks self-sealed by sheets. When the package is placed in a melting kettle, heat migrates through the spaces between the individual sealant blocks and allows the smaller sealant blocks to melt quickly and evenly. Sheet and film melt with sealant material and are incorporated therein to form the final sealant product.
Automatically adjusting swing legs for mounting and aligning and reorienting crawlers
A paving machine including a modular frame, a plurality of swing legs pivotable relative to the frame, a jacking column secured to each swing leg, a crawler track, a slew gear drive, and angular position transducers for measuring an angular position between the swing leg and the modular frame, and an angular position of the crawler track relative to the jacking column. Feedback from the transducers facilitates maintaining position of the crawler track. The jacking column can include telescoping outer and inner tubes, a vertically oriented hydraulic actuator including a cylinder and a piston operable within the outer and inner tubes, and spaced apart axial bearings coupled to the outer tube and/or the inner tube. The slew gear drive can be secured between the inner tube and a yoke and capable of steering the crawler track under load without lifting the crawler track.
DRY MIXES AND CEMENTS CONTAINING CELLULOSE ETHERS AS LUBRICATIVE ADDITIVES FOR ROLLER COMPACTED CONCRETE APPLICATIONS AND METHODS OF USING THEM
The present invention provides a dry mix composition of a low-viscosity cellulose ether (50 to 750 mPa.Math.s at 1 wt. % solids, at 20 C, and a 514 s-1 shear rate, using a strain-controlled rotational rheometer (for example, ARES-G2™, TA Instruments), a graded aggregate, and a hydraulic cement, or a granular wet cement composition of the cement, graded aggregate and an admixture therefor including the cellulose ether. The wet granular hydraulic cement composition behaves like asphalt compositions and has zero or near zero slump, a high lubricity and from 5 wt. % to less than 13 wt. % of water, or, preferably from greater than 5 to 10.5 wt. %, based on the total weight of the granular wet cement composition. The low-viscosity cellulose ether enables lubricity without impairing compaction and without causing air entrainment.
ROAD FINISHING MACHINE WITH SUCTION DEVICE
A road finishing machine comprises a screed for producing a paving layer from a paving material, a material bunker for receiving the paving material, a longitudinal conveying device configured to transport the paving material from the material bunker toward the screed, and a transverse distributor auger configured to distribute the paving material transported by the longitudinal conveying device transversely in front of the screed. The transverse distributor auger is mounted in front of a screed basic body of the screed within a transverse distributor channel, which is formed at least in sections by channel plates supported at a chassis of the road finishing machine, and by pre-scrapers attached laterally of a screed basic body of the screed. The road finishing machine further includes at least one suction device with at least one intake line which is configured to suck off aerosols forming during the transverse distribution of the paving material.
PLAUSIBILITY CHECK OF A PAVING DATA SET FOR A ROAD CONSTRUCTION MACHINE
A method for paving a road surface, wherein a paving data set is read into an on-board computer of a road construction machine. During a paving operation, working components of the road construction machine are controlled for paving the road surface on the, basis of the read-in paving data set. Before start of the paving operation, the paving data set is compared by a computing unit with a property profile of the road construction machine stored in a profile memory and, based on a result of the comparison, an assessment is made as to whether the road construction machine is suitable for paving the road surface.
Sterol blends as an additive in asphalt binder
Disclosed are asphalt binder compositions and methods for making such compositions with pure sterol:crude sterol blends. The sterol blends improve various rheological properties.
CONSTRUCTION METHOD FOR PLAYGROUND SURFACING
The present invention relates to a construction method for playground surfacing. The method of the present invention comprises the steps of: a) preparing in situ a mixture comprising 29-70% by weight of cork granules and 30-71% by weight of a polymeric binder, at room temperature; b) pouring the mixture obtained in step a) on at least one surface area; c) compacting said mixture to a thickness in the range of 35-135 mm and to a density in the range of 100-300 kg/m.sup.3; and d) curing the compacted mixture from step c).
AUTOMATICALLY ADJUSTING SWING LEGS FOR MOUNTING AND ALIGNING AND REORIENTING CRAWLERS
A paving machine for spreading, leveling and finishing concrete having a main frame, center module, bolsters laterally movably, and a crawler track associated with respective aft and forward ends of the bolsters. A bolster swing leg for each crawler track supports an upright jacking column. A worm gear drive permits rotational movements of the crawler track and the jacking column. A hinge bracket is interposed between each swing leg and a surface of the bolsters to enable pivotal movements of the swing leg. A length-adjustable holder engages the pivot pin on the hinge bracket and pivotally engages the swing leg. The holder permits pivotal motions of the swing leg in its length-adjustable configuration and prevents substantially any motion of the swing leg in its fixed-length configuration. A feedback loop cooperates with transducers keeping the crawler tracks position. The paving machine can be reconfigured into a narrowed transport configuration.
