METHOD FOR RENOVATING, REPAIRING, REINFORCING, PROTECTING OR NEWLY CREATING CORRUGATED METAL-SHEET TUNNELS, AND CORRUGATED METAL-SHEET TUNNELS OF THIS TYPE
A process is used for the renovation or new construction of corrugated sheet metal tunnels. The corrugated sheets are sandblasted for cleaning and room cleaning. Then anchoring elements are welded to the rough side of the sheets. A layer of shotcrete is applied to this roughened side of the sheets to obtain a smooth coating over the crests and valleys of the sheets. A reinforcement net is placed on this layer and a second layer of shotcrete or mortar is applied to cover the reinforcement net. The top layer can be smoothed. The subsequent corrugated sheet metal tunnel includes corrugated sheets covering the tunnel walls and ceilings with the course direction of their wave crests and valleys parallel to the circumferential direction of the tunnel profile. The corrugated sheets on the inside and/or outside of the tunnel are reinforced with an applied reinforced concrete layer.
Pre-stressed box culvert and methods for assembly thereof
A pre-stressed concrete box culvert includes a three-sided culvert top section having a pre-stressed top slab, a first sidewall and a second sidewall. The first and the second sidewalls extend orthogonally from opposite ends of the pre-stressed top slab, and the first and the second sidewalls each include a free end that has at least one male or female connector. The pre-stressed concrete box culvert includes a three-sided culvert bottom section having a pre-stressed bottom slab and a third sidewall and a fourth sidewall. The third and the fourth sidewalls extend orthogonally from opposite ends of the pre-stressed bottom slab, and the third and the fourth sidewalls each include a free end that has at least one male or female connector to mate with the at least one corresponding male or female connector arranged at one of the respective free ends of the first and the second sidewalls.
CORRUGATED METAL PLATE AND OVERHEAD STRUCTURE INCORPORATING SAME
A method of assembling a corrugated structure formed of corrugated metal plates. The corrugated structure may include corrugations extending transversely of the longitudinal length of said corrugated structure. At least some of said corrugated metal plates may include a longitudinal flange extending from each longitudinal edge and a transverse flange extending from each transverse edge. At least some of the flanges may include alignment features. The method includes: bringing adjacent plates into abutting relationship such that alignment features on adjacent plates matingly engage; installing fasteners through aligned holes to secure abutting plates; and repeating said bringing and said installing as necessary until said corrugated structure is assembled.
Box culvert
A box culvert assembly and method of forming a box culvert assembly is provided. The boxes forming the assembly comprise portions configured to allow pivoted assembly of one box into another, while reducing the likelihood of high stress or fracture. The box assembly further allows for a generally tight seal between the boxes.
System and Method for Constructing a Culvert Using Vehicle Tires
The method teaches constructing a culvert using discarded tires. The culvert's stress points are reinforced by truck tires. Additionally, the integrity of the culvert is kept intact using a predetermined formula for every 10 feet of culvert constructed.
Fluid flow enhancing device and culvert comprising same
Fluid flow enhancing devices disclosed herein are adapted to enhance flow of fluid through subsurface watershed conduits, for example, culverts, drainpipe and the like. Such fluid flow enhancing devices advantageously enhance watershed runoff functionality in subsurface watershed conduits by altering watershed flow from a parabolic flow pattern to a rotational flow pattern while still accommodating fish passage requirements. This change in flow pattern beneficially provides turbulence that disrupts and flushes debris out of the subsurface watershed conduits. This disruption and flushing establishes a passive cleaning functionality within the subsurface watershed conduits that serves to clean the subsurface watershed conduits after suitable upstream water delivery event (e.g., heavy rain, controlled water release, etc.). In doing so, these fluid flow enhancing devices overcome one or more shortcomings associated with subsurface watershed conduits in a manner that overcomes drawbacks associated with conventional design and in-use considerations for such subsurface watershed conduits.
Corrugated metal plate and overhead structure incorporating same
A corrugated metal plate comprises a plate configured to define a series of crests and troughs, where the plate has longitudinal edges extending parallel to longitudinal axes of the crests and the troughs and transverse edges extending orthogonally to the longitudinal axes of the crests and the troughs. The corrugated metal plate further comprises at least one of: at least one longitudinal flange extending from each longitudinal edge, and at least one transverse flange extending from each transverse edge.
Concrete
Concrete is formed by providing a wet layer of a first concrete 4, applying a second wet layer 6 of concrete on the first layer 4 of wet concrete and setting the layers 4 and 6 to provide a composite concrete structure, wherein at least one of the layers comprises, AACM (Alkali-Activated Cementitious Material). An ionic bond 2 is formed between the two layers. The AACM layer may comprise a reinforcement structure and cathodic protection.
Module and method for managing water and other fluids
A method for managing the flow of water beneath a ground surface uses modules. Assemblies of such modules are disclosed. The modules include supports and a deck portion, and the supports are spaced apart and form multiple channels with a main section of the deck portion. The deck portion also includes at least one section extending from a main section.
