Crash cushion
09725857 · 2017-08-08 · ·

The crash cushion includes: a rail installed on the ground surface; a front support that is installed on a front end of the rail and is pushed backward along the rail when a shock is applied to the front support; a rear support installed on a rear end of the rail; and a shock absorber that is installed extending from the front support to the rear support and disposed at a predetermined height from the ground surface. The shock absorber includes a punch and a pipe, and it absorbs shock in such a way that the pipe is expanded in diameter by the punch. The crash cushion is installed on a road and can effectively absorb shock caused by a vehicle collision.

IMPACT ABSORBING POST
20220267970 · 2022-08-25 · ·

An impact absorbing post including a first layer, second layer and a third layer formed as a mono-structure and having a length. The third layer is configured for being mounted to a supporting substrate so the second layer and first layer extend in a direction away from the supporting substrate. The second layer is more flexible than the first layer or third layer to thereby form a pivotable link between the first layer and third layer.

Energy Absorbing Guardrail System
20170275837 · 2017-09-28 ·

A highway crash attenuation system having W-beam rail elements attached to a plurality of vertical posts. An impact terminal with a feeder chute guides one or more of the W-beam rail elements through the impact terminal. The feeder chute has an impact shield extending along a traffic-facing side of the chute from an upstream-most end to a downstream-most end of the chute closing the traffic-facing side of the chute. The system also has an anchor cable release mechanism for releasing the cable downstream of the first vertical post and an improved first breakaway post.

REINFORCED GUARDRAIL EXTRUDER HEAD

A guardrail extruder head includes: top and bottom feeder channels; an impact plate having a face for facing oncoming traffic, wherein the face of the impact plate has an upper substantially planar area and a lower substantially planar area separated by a horizontal tooth projecting out between the upper and lower areas; a top plate connecting the impact plate to the top feeder channel; a bottom plate connecting the impact plate to the bottom feeder channel; a front extruder plate coupled between the top and bottom plates; a curved deflector plate attached to the front extruder plate and coupled between the top and bottom plates; a front brace on the front extruder plate near the curved deflector plate and coupled between the top and bottom plates; a back extruder plate opposite to the front extruder plate and coupled between the top and bottom plates.

Post assembly
09758936 · 2017-09-12 · ·

A post assembly for absorbing impact from a vehicle including a footing, an upright post and a hinge region to allow the post to plastically deform relative to the footing. The post is preferably fixed to a lever arm that is connected to the footing via the hinge region, the lever arm and post pivoting away from the footing under load, The lever arm, footing and hinge region are preferably formed from a common base plate. The invention also relates to barrier system that includes multiple post assemblies, and a barrier supported between respective posts of the assemblies.

FLEXIBLE TENSIONED CRASH BARRIER
20220228331 · 2022-07-21 ·

A roadside crash barrier configured for deflecting errant vehicles towards the road. The barrier comprising at least one tensioned flexible strap comprising a planar face facing the road in use. Compared to prior art systems, the present invention reduces the chances of injury to motorcyclists, as well as being fast and easy to install. A collapsible end anchor for holding the tension of the straps is also described herein, where the end anchor is configured to reduce vehicle rollover should end on impact occur whilst still retaining the effectiveness of the retained road barrier.

Protective Guards for Columns and Other Structures
20220228333 · 2022-07-21 · ·

Protective guard devices are provided for protecting various structures, such as within a building or around a gas station fuel island. A pair of L-shaped guards may be provided to surround and protect a vertical column within a building. Each L-shaped guard may include a first wall and a second wall connected in generally perpendicular relationship. Each guard may include a plurality of connecting tabs, each having a bore hole adapted for receiving a bolt to secure each tab to a floor surface. A corner guard having a structure similar to an L-shaped guard may be provided to protect exterior corners of structures or items disposed in corners of buildings. U-shaped structures having a left wall, a front wall, and a right wall in a U-shaped configuration may be provided to protect vertically disposed items (e.g., plumbing pipes, electrical conduits, etc.) adjacent exterior walls of a building.

GUARDRAIL TERMINAL BARRIER
20210388565 · 2021-12-16 ·

A force-absorbing barrier includes a plurality of chambers at least partially filled with fluid. The walls defining the chambers are flexible. Fluid passages in the interior walls between chambers allow fluid flow between the chambers. Alternatively, the chambers are filled with structures instead of or in addition to a fluid. The fluid flow from chamber to chamber and/or the deformation of the structures will absorb energy from the impact a motor vehicle, preventing the vehicle from impacting the terminal of a guardrail.

Protection device and road barrier for motorcyclists
11198981 · 2021-12-14 · ·

A protection device (5a) for motorcyclists, adapted to be secured to a road safety barrier (1) with a plurality of poles (3) regularly spaced out, the protection device (5a) including a longitudinal beam (6a) and a spacer (7a) extending longitudinally alongside the rear side of at least one part of the beam (6a) and adapted to be secured to the poles, wherein the beam (6a) and the spacer (7a) are assembled together so as to define, in the part of the beam, a longitudinal damping volume (V) with a closed cross-section.

A DRIVERLESS IMPACT ATTENUATING TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT VEHICLE
20210381179 · 2021-12-09 ·

A driverless traffic management vehicle has a control system having a controller interfacing steering and drive interfaces for control of respective steering and drive subsystems of the vehicle.
