A stiffening member for a protective housing assembly which defines a bore for receiving a utility line. The housing assembly includes a first body member, and a second body member arranged adjacent to one another to define immediately adjacent sections of the bore which surrounds the utility line. The stiffening member includes a first side for engagement with the first body member, and a second side for engagement with the second body member wherein pedestals extend from the first side of the stiffening member in a first direction away from the second side.

Deployment apparatus having a tether arm for an inspection vehicle

A deployment system for an inspection vehicle operable in a housing having a liquid medium is disclosed in the present application. The deployment system includes a mount connectable to the housing through an aperture formed in a wall thereof. An extendable arm is connected to the mount and positioned within the housing. A tether is slidably coupled to the extendable arm and adapted to connect with the inspection vehicle. A control mechanism is operable to control deployment of the tether and the position of the extendable arm.

MOUNTING DEVICE FOR AN ELONGATE FLEXIBLE MEMBER

A mounting device (110) for an elongate flexible member extending through an aperture (102), comprising: an elongate body (130) having a longitudinal axis; an internal passageway passing through the elongate body (130) parallel to the longitudinal axis, for receipt of the elongate flexible member; a plurality of apertures (132) in the elongate body (130); an engagement member (136) in each apertures (132) and constrained to move along a displacement axis inclined to the longitudinal axis of the elongate body (130); a plurality of actuation members (142), each engaged with a respective engagement member (136), whereby displacement of the actuation member (142) in a first direction displaces the engagement members (136) outwardly to project beyond the periphery of the elongate body (130) and displacement of the actuations members (142) in a second, opposite direction displaces the engagement members (136) inwardly; and biasing means (182) biasing the actuation members (142) in the first direction.

Protection Assembly for an Elongate Member Deployed Underwater
20200325646 · 2020-10-15 ·

An assembly (10) protects an elongate member (e.g., an electrical cable) extending through an opening in a support structure (e.g., a wind turbine leg (12) and passes through at least one bend protector, e.g., a bend stiffener (20a, 20b), and a retaining device (18). The retaining device (18) has a body configured to lock itself to the opening. The body carries an abutment (78) and locking members (84), which are movable between retracted and extended positions. A movable member (86) is carried by the body (82), moveable axially with respect to it, and attachable to a pulling line. As the assembly (10) is pulled into the opening by the pulling line, the abutment (78) engages the support structure and arrests inward movement. The movable member (86) is moved in the inward direction with respect to the body (82), and the locking members (84) move to their extended positions to lock the retaining device in place.

Weak link latch
10784662 · 2020-09-22 · ·

A weak-link latch for releasably pulling a cable (13) arranged in a conduit (14). The weak link latch is releasably connected to the conduit, and securely connected to the cable. A plurality of arms (4,5) extend laterally from a central member (1) arranged to engage the conduit, with at least one of which arms being a rotatable arm (5,19), rotatable about an axle (6) from an extended position in locked engagement with the conduit to a collapsed position disengaged from the conduit. A shear pin (7) is arranged between the rotatable arm (5,19) and the central member (1), the shear pin arranged to prevent rotation of the rotatable arm from the extended position to the collapsed position, said shear pin having a predetermined breaking force, said breaking force being a shear force due to rotational force from the rotatable arm.

Protection Device, Assembly and Method

A protection device for preventing damage to an elongate flexible member passing through an aperture including a body portion adapted to be inserted into the aperture in a first direction and having an internal passageway for allowing movement of an elongate flexible member therethrough, and at least one latching element pivotally mounted on the body portion. The protection device can be used for protecting an elongate flexible member passing through an aperture in a support pillar of an offshore turbine generator. A method of removing the protection device from an aperture is also disclosed.
