Laboratory cabinet device for storing laboratory samples with a magnetic closure

The invention relates to a laboratory cabinet device for storing laboratory samples with a magnetic closure for the door. It concerns in particular a tempering cabinet for tempering laboratory samples, in particular an incubator for the growth of cell cultures. The magnetic closure works with magnetic elements arranged without contact in the closing position.

Lever action automatic shootbolt operator with magnetically-triggered locking mechanism

A magnetically-triggered lock mechanism for interengaging two relatively movable components. The lock mechanism includes a bolt mounted within a first component composed of a first material and displaceable between retracted and extended positions to interengage with a second component when the first and second components are in a predetermined position relative to each other and the bolt is extended, and a magnetically-releasable latch mechanism positioned to latch the bolt in a retracted position, the latch mechanism including a first magnet and mounted for movement between a biased latch engaging position and a latch releasing position. A support collar composed of a second material having higher strength than that of the first material is disposed around the bolt between an inner casing and outer casing of the first component and is spaced from the bolt to allow for sliding movement of the bolt through the support collar as the bolt moves between the extended and retracted positions. The support collar absorbs and distributes to the inner and/or outer casing a load generated from the bolt as the bolt moves to the extended position through the support collar. A second magnet is positioned to displace the latch mechanism to the latch releasing position when the first component is in the predetermined position relative to the second component.

Pet door apparatus

A pet door apparatus (10) discloses a pet door frame (12), an opening (34), and closure flap (36) which is rotatable for at least partly closing the opening or extending away from the opening. A magnet (102) and magnetically attractable element are respectively on one or the other of the flap and frame, and an actuator can move the magnet or magnetically attractable element to change the distance, and magnetic attraction force, between them. A blocking member (176) attached to a side part (28) of the frame is movable under gravitational force and due to engaging cam surfaces (196, 198), from an extended, raised position for partially closing a gap (160) between the flap and frame, to a retracted, lowered position, and back to the raised, extended position by magnetic attraction between a magnet (164) on the flap and another magnet (190) on the frame.

In a door latch for a hinged or pivoting door having a latch fixture mounted in or on the door that supports a slideable bolt that is magnetically attracted to a fixed strike so as to effect latching action by extension of the bolt, a safety catch mechanism which, while engaged, prevents the bolt from extending, the safety catch mechanism having a catch member that operatively acts between the moveable bolt and the latch fixture, and an operating mechanism to operate the catch member responsive to magnetic forces from the strike. First and second actuators are disposed to opposite sides of the door, each of the first and second actuators being coupled to the latching mechanism to effect withdrawal of the latch bolt from its extended position to its retracted position upon operation by a user. A privacy lock mechanism is operable from one side of the door only and can be used to prevent the actuator on the other side of the door from operating the latch.

Magnetic lock
