A ladder support for use with a ladder, wherein the ladder includes a pair of rails each having a base end portion and an opposing free end portion, with the pair of rails having a plurality of rungs disposed therebetween, the ladder support is for use between a roof and a surface. The ladder support includes a telescopically adjustable extension strut having a first end and an opposing second end, further included is a curved bracket connected at the second end of the extension strut that retainably rests against a ladder rung. Also included in the ladder support is a substantially L-shaped bracket connected at the first end of the extension strut, wherein the bracket anchors to the surface to help secure the ladder rail base end portions from unwanted movement on the surface.

In one embodiment, an electronically controlled hatch system for safe ingress, egress, hazard detection, and methods thereof are provided to reduce or eliminate hazards to personnel, including protection of people above and below a scuttle hatch, access port, skylight or elevated deck. Said hatch system reduces the risk of falls while ascending or descending a ladder through an access port. In certain embodiments, severe weather, hazard, security, and other safety information are detected and transmitted to a central control unit for processing and regulating the opening and closing of a hatch covering the access port and/or raising and lowering a safety railing system based on said information and/or user input. Said hatch system may include an actuator and guides for automatically locking/unlocking and opening/closing a hatch, an actuator and guides for automatically raising/lowering a railing system, safety monitoring detectors/apparatuses, and a centralized controller.

The present invention provides a hoisting device for working in heights, specifically including a vehicle body, a lower bracket installed at a bottom of a safety ladder, a host driver fixed on the lower bracket and providing lifting power, an upper bracket installed at a top of the safety ladder, a traction rope connecting the upper bracket, the vehicle body and the host driver, and a sliding rail installed on the safety ladder, and further including a fall arrester installed on the sliding rail, a guiding device assembly installed on a back portion of the vehicle body, a stall protection device installed on the vehicle body and matched with the sliding rail, a collapsible pedal installed on a lower portion of the vehicle body and configured to carry people and goods, an operation handle fixed to an upper portion of the vehicle body and a position-limiting bracket installed on an upper portion of the safety ladder. The host driver drives, trough the traction rope, the vehicle body to ascend or descend along the sliding rail, thus enabling the vehicle body to ascend or descend so as to convey people and goods. The hoisting device is simple and convenient to operate, occupies a small floor space and can be installed without changing a structure of an original safety ladder.

In one particular embodiment, an elevated platform apparatus is provided comprising a first assembly having a pair of rails coupled with a plurality of rungs, a second assembly hingedly coupled with the first assembly, a platform pivotally coupled with the first assembly and configured to extend to, and engage a portion of, the second assembly. The apparatus further includes a cage associated with the platform. The cage may include at least one bar and at least one gate, the at least one gate being configured to swing in a first direction upon a user stepping on to the platform from the first rail assembly, and then swing back to a closed position after the user is standing on the platform. Platform includes a toe-kick structure that is collapsible relative to the deck of the platform.
