Threaded truss foundations and related systems, methods, and machines
20200032830 · 2020-01-30 ·

A screw anchor for a trussed foundation system to support single-axis trackers and other structures and related methods of driving such a screw anchor into underlying ground. A hollowed tube of uniform diameter is open at both ends with a thread form beginning at one end and circumscribing a portion the tube, the thread form having a tapered lead-in. The open-ended geometry allows a mandrel or rock drill to be inserted and operated through the anchor during driving to expedite the driving process. The tapered thread form provides a lead-in for driving the anchor into a rock bore.

Threaded truss foundations and related systems, methods, and machines

A machine for rotary driving screw anchors into underlying ground and related. The machine has a mast with a rotary driver and a mandrel driver oriented on a common axis. The mandrel driver passes a mandrel through the rotary driver and the screw anchor to allow the mandrel to be actuated ahead of the screw anchor while the rotary driver drives the screw anchor into the ground. Alternatively, the mandrel driver may also drive a hammering drill through the screw anchor to clear a path ahead of it through subsurface rocks.

Collar With Stepped Retaining Ring Groove
20200018126 · 2020-01-16 ·

An assembly for a torque-transmitting connection in an inner pipe string of a dual-member drill string is formed from a collar, a retaining ring, and an inner pipe member. An endless internal groove having adjacent shallow and deep sections is formed in the collar. Formed in the inner pipe member, an external grooved region is situated in adjacent relationship with the internal groove. The retaining ring, situated within the grooves, resists disconnection of the collar from the inner pipe member. When the assembly is subjected to an axial force that might otherwise tend to pull it apart, the retaining ring resists the tendency by wedging between the bottom of the shallow section of the internal groove and the crest of the external groove.

Method to prevent dual rod drill string drag

An apparatus and method for preventing drill string drag. Rotation encoders are provided for tracking the rotation of an inner and outer member of a dual-member drill string. Based upon the drilling conditions, the readings of the encoder can detect when the inner member is dragging on the outer member. When such a drag condition is detected, a processor can trigger remedial measures, which may include increasing a rotation rate of the inner member, sending a warning signal, stopping operation, or a combination of these.

Square pile construction method and equipment of a rotary drilling rig

A square pile construction method and equipment of a rotary drilling rig are disclosed. The square pile construction method includes: site leveling; surveying and setting out; creating concrete retaining wall of wellhead; putting the drilling rig in place; adjusting the verticality of the drilling rig; lead hole drilling; reamed hole drilling; square hole drilling; hole cleaning with round drill bit; and hole cleaning with square drill bit. The square pile construction method and rotary drilling rig can use equipment for square pile construction in the whole process. Three kinds of square pile drill bits and a square pile hole cleaning drill bit in cooperation with the square pile construction method, which further realizes the mechanization of the whole process of square pile construction, are disclosed.

Top surface drilling device and methods for drilling a core in a top surface

A top surface drilling device has a core bit and a drill head disposed in the core bit. The drill head has a smaller diameter than that of the core bit, and the core bit and the drill head can be driven at different angular speeds.

A modular assembly for handling excavating equipment is disclosed. The assembly includes a first rotating table having a main body; one or more motors, each having a pinion, associated with the main body; a bearing having a fixed ring constrained to the main body and a movable ring that is coaxial and rotatable with respect to the fixed ring; a dragging sleeve integrally coupled with the movable ring coaxially to the bearing; a ring gear integrally and coaxially coupled with the dragging sleeve to engage with the pinion and be moved in rotation by the motors rotating integrally with the dragging sleeve and integrally with the movable ring. The assembly also has a second rotating table adapted to be coupled to a continuous excavating propeller; a plurality of accessories associated with the first rotating table so it can be coupled to a telescopic Kelly rod or to a continuous excavating propeller or to a casing and excavating pipe.

Dual-Member Pipe Assembly

A pipe assembly used in horizontal directional drilling operations. The pipe assembly has an outer member, an inner member, and first removable collar. The inner member has a polygonal outer profile of uniform shape along its length and is partially contained within the outer member. The first removable collar is supported on the inner member within the outer member and limits relative axial movement of the inner member and the outer member.

Drilling apparatus for producing a cased bore and method for operating a drilling apparatus

The invention relates to a drilling apparatus for producing a cased bore with a first drill drive for driving a drill rod in a rotating manner, at the lower end of which a drilling tool for removing ground material is arranged, a mast, along which the first drill drive is movable with a sledge, and a second drive, with which a support tube for the bore can be introduced into the ground. According to the invention a computer unit is provided, in which a current drilling depth of the drilling tool and a depth of introduction of the support tube are indicated. Furthermore, a monitor is provided, on which the current drilling depth in relation to the depth of introduction of the support tube can be displayed by the computer unit. The invention further relates to a method for operating such a drilling apparatus.
