DOWNHOLE HEATER
A downhole heating apparatus may include a gas separator, a downhole heater, and a thermal barrier. The thermal barrier may retard fluid and heat from flowing between a lower annulus of a wellbore and an upper annulus of a wellbore. The thermal barrier may be formed from one or more thermal barrier subcomponents. The downhole heater may be an electrical heater. The thermal barrier may include one or more vents allowing fluid communication between the lower annulus and upper annulus of the wellbore.
Systems And Methods For Multi-Zone Power And Communications
A system, method and device may be used to provide power and monitor conditions in a borehole. Well tubing and casing act as a conductive pair for delivering power wirelessly to isolated zones defined between packer elements. Data signals are similarly transmitted. The packer elements include magnetic toroidal cores for power and signal transmission via inductively coupling.
Method and device for supplying at least one electrical consumer of a drill pipe with an operating voltage
In a method and device for supplying at least one electrical consumer (10) of a drill pipe with an operating voltage, at least one electrical component (10, 11, 15) on pipe rods (6) of the drill pipe is tested for defects with a test voltage that is smaller than the operating voltage before the operating voltage is applied, and the operating voltage can only be applied when no defects are present.
Slickline Shredder
A slickline shredder tool includes a housing, a housing inlet, a power receiver, a shredder coupled to the power receiver, and a storage unit. The shredder rotates about a first axis when the power receiver receives power. Malfunctioning slickline enters the housing through the housing inlet and is shredded into shredded pieces by the shredder. The shredded pieces are stored in the storage unit.
Downhole assembly employing wired drill pipe
A system for drilling a subterranean wellbore includes a bottom hole assembly (BHA) coupled to a downhole end of a drill string. The BHA includes an electronic controller having a processor. The drill string includes downhole and uphole portions with the downhole portion made up of wired drill pipe and the uphole portion made up of non-wired drill pipe. The downhole portion further includes at least one downhole tool or sensor sub in communication with the BHA via the wired drill pipe communication link. Methods for making sensor measurements, downlinking data and/or commands to the BHA, and actuating a downhole tool make use of the system.
TAPERED STRING PULSE POWER ROCK EXCAVATION SYSTEM
Systems and methods for drilling a wellbore include delivering electrical energy to a downhole end of the wellbore. A tapered drill string, with larger drill pipes connected in an up-hole portion with a turbine and an electrical generator and a smaller drill pipes coupled in downhole portion may be used to deliver the electrical power. A turbine and generator may be sufficiently sized to harvest the necessary hydraulic energy and safely operated in a subterranean environment. An electrode carried by the downhole portion of the drill string is electrically coupled to the generator through the downhole portion of the drill string.
Fibre composite rod petroleum well intervention cable
A fiber composite rod intervention cable includes a central electrical cable portion; a bonding layer; a generally unidirectional carbon fiber composite mantle layer; a protective, balanced braided fiber composite layer. The central electrical cable portion includes a generally central electrical conductor with a first cross-section conductive area; an inner insulation layer on the central electrical conductor; and a coaxial electrical conductor layer having a second cross section conductive area equal to the first cross-section conductive area. The fiber composite rod intervention cable is arranged for being injected into a well from a drum unit via an injection unit at the wellhead and may carry an intervention tool, a logging tool, a well tractor with or without an energy source.
Isolation ring on gap sub
A gap sub comprises at least one electrically isolating threaded joint in a conductive tubular collar. The threads of the joints are isolated by a non-conductive coating. The shoulders of the joints are separated by an isolating ring. Annular faces on the ring make contact with the shoulders in the joints. The ring is made of conductive material with a non-conductive coating deployed on (1) at least one of the ring's annular faces, and (2) the interior surface of the ring. An annular recess in the collar prevents electrical contact between collar sections nearby the ring on either side of at least one threaded joint.
Configurable Universal Wellbore Reactor System
A configurable universal wellbore reactor system designed for localized heat, pressure, and reaction control, to facilitate desired reactor conditions to transform feedstocks to recoverable products via diluent- based processes and/or reactions. The present system provides for a universal wellbore reactor for the diluent transformation of a diverse range of feedstocks, such as hydrocarbon waste, municipal waste, industrial waste, and/or mineral rich resources to recoverable product(s). Heat and temperature within the wellbore reactor are controlled by configuring various reactor components to govern the direction and magnitude of internal and external heat transfer within. Together with skin frequency heat transfer of ferromagnetic reactor piping at predetermined locations, the required temperature(s) and pressure(s) for the desired targeted reactions and/ or transformation reactions are achieved. The universal wellbore reactor system comprises one or more wellbore reactors with configurable features to improve reactor dynamics, reaction mechanisms and/or quality of the recoverable product, to facilitate a wide range of transformation reactions ranging from near ambient, to beyond the critical point of the diluent.
Downhole Acoustic Telemetry Module with Multiple Communication Modes
A system includes a downhole tool configured to transmit uplink data. The system also includes a surface controller configured to receive the uplink data and to transmit downlink data to the downhole tool. The system also includes a plurality of acoustic telemetry modules deployed downhole, wherein each of the modules selectively operates in a first communication mode in which its transducers simultaneously convey uplink data and downlink data, and in a second communication mode in which its transducers simultaneously convey only uplink data or only downlink data.
