Multi-angle rotary steerable drilling
Rotary steerable drilling apparatus and methods utilizing apparatus comprising a shaft, a multi-angle strike ring axially repositionable along the shaft, an articulated member coupled to the shaft, and a steering member carried by the articulated member. An actuator is operable to maintain an angular offset of the articulated member relative to the shaft by maintaining azimuthally-dependent contact between the multi-angle strike ring and the steering member.
Sub For Accommodating Large Devices
A sub, downhole tool, and method for manufacturing thereof, are disclosed. The sub may include one or more flow channels, each of which may be defined in part by a longitudinal groove formed along an exterior of a collar. One or more flow channel cover may be connected to the collar. The longitudinal grooves position the flow channels further outward to provide more volume within the collar that may be used for housing one or more devices. Upper and lower blind bores are fluidly coupled to the longitudinal grooves by angled through bores to complete the flow channels. A medial bore, which may be fluidly isolated from the flow channels, may be provided to house a device, such as an instrument, detector, or circuitry.

Real time untorquing and over-torquing of drill string connections
An apparatus for detecting over-torquing or un-torquing of a threaded connection between components in a borehole penetrating the earth includes: a string of components coupled in series by a threaded connection; a transmission line attached to each component; a signal coupler in communication with the transmission line and disposed on each component at each threaded connection, the signal coupler being configured to transmit the signal to an adjacent signal coupler on an adjacent coupled component in order to transmit a signal along the transmission line attached to the adjacent coupled component; a receiver configured to receive the signal; and a processor in communication with the receiver and configured to: (i) determine a difference between a characteristic of the signal and the characteristic of a reference signal and (ii) transmit an alert signal signifying that the threaded connection is over-torquing or un-torquing in response to the difference exceeding a threshold value.

Insulating component
An insulating component for inclusion in a down hole drill string comprising a first part or connected group of parts, and a second part or group of parts. The first part or group of parts includes a first connection site and the second part or connected group of parts includes a second connection site. The insulating component also includes a first right-hand threaded connection located between the first connection site and the second connection site, and a second, left-hand threaded connection located between the first connection site and the second connection site. The first part or group of parts is electrically insulated from the second part or group of parts through insulating material provided between the first part or group of parts and the second part or group of parts, so that the first and second connection sites are electrically insulated from one another.
