The present disclosure relates to a wireline drum configured for use in a material handling system. The wireline drum may have a core extending between a pair of flanges. The core may be configured to receive a spooled wireline. Each flange may have a neck extending from an inner surface toward the core and configured to nestably engage the core. The present disclosure further relates to methods of manufacturing such a wireline drum. In some embodiments, each flange, including the flange neck, may be cast as substantially a single component. At a joint between each flange neck and the core, a V-shaped groove may be defined for receiving a weld. Each flange may be welded to the core at the V-shaped groove.

METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR CONTROLLING OPERATION OF WIRELINE CABLE SPOOLING EQUIPMENT

A method of controlling operation of equipment that spools cable on and off a rotatable drum, in one or more embodiments, includes obtaining video data of a position of the cable on the rotatable drum. The method can also include feeding data into a trained artificial neural network and processing the data fed into the trained artificial neural network to determine at least one of a calculated position of the cable on the rotatable drum, a calculated fleet angle, or both. The method can also include actuating the rotatable drum to one of spool cable on and off the rotatable drum.

ELECTRIC, BATTERY-POWERED WIRELINE SYSTEMS

A wireline system includes an operations cabin with a plurality of electrical devices, and a winch that includes an electric winch motor operable to drive a drum to manipulate a wireline cable. A first engine and a first electric generator are each arranged within the operations cabin and generate electrical power, a second electric generator driven by a second engine via a power takeoff to generate electrical power, and an umbilical extends from the operations cabin to an external energy source to provide electrical power. A battery pack is arranged within the operations cabin and includes rechargeable batteries communicably coupled to the electric generators and the umbilical, wherein the battery pack solely provides electrical power to the electric winch motor and the electrical devices, and wherein the electric generators and the external energy source provide electrical power to recharge the rechargeable batteries.

A dual-open entry injector head positioning system installed on support structures, such as conventional lifting frames, utilized over wells on offshore vessels. The injector head positioning system is lighter and more compact than conventional equipment positioning systems, while permitting simultaneous deployment of multiple intervention systems (such as, for example, continuous tubing and wireline) from said lifting frame.

DRILLING INSTALLATION: HANDLING SYSTEM, METHOD FOR INDEPENDENT OPERATIONS

Drilling installation comprising a cantilever with a drilling floor for performing drilling operations; further comprising an independent operations handling system arranged for handling equipment underneath the drilling floor independent of the drilling operations on the drilling floor, wherein the independent operations handling system comprises a handling element for cooperation with the equipment to be handled, wherein the handling element is extendible underneath the cantilever.

Coiled tubing operating system and coiled tubing operating method

A coiled tubing operating system and a coiled tubing operating method are provided, which relate to a technical field of coiled tubing. The coiled tubing operating system includes: an injector assembly for lifting or lowering a coiled tube; a suspending device for suspending the injector assembly; a reel assembly for feeding the coiled tube to the injector assembly, and for rewinding the coiled tube from the injector assembly; and a circuit control system connected to the injector assembly and the reel assembly, for controlling movements of the injector assembly and the reel assembly. The system can ensure the stability of the coiled tubing, the precision of equipment control, and reduction of the environment pollution.

SPLIT REEL AND HANDLER SYSTEM

A reel assembly is provided. The reel assembly includes a housing, a drum core disposed within the housing, and a splitter flange separating the drum core into a first partition and a second partition. A first conduit is wound on the first partition of the drum core, and a second conduit is wound on the second partition of the drum core. A conduit handler system is utilized to make a connection or test a connection between the first conduit and the second conduit using actuating pistons to apply a compressive or an opposing tensile force on the connection.

Rope Tensioning System for Drilling Rig

A rotary drilling rig includes a vertical mast and a rotary head that can vertically move along the mast with respect to a work surface. To move the rotary head along the mast, a hydraulic feed actuator is connected with the rotary head via a wire rope feed system including a hoist rope and a pulldown rope. To maintain the hoist and pulldown ropes in tension and prevent them from dislodging from the respective pulleys of the wire rope system, the hoist and pulldown ropes can be connected to respective hoist and pulldown tensioning actuators. The hoist actuator can be associated with a hoist hydraulic circuit and the pulldown tensioning actuator can be associated with a separate pulldown hydraulic circuit.

Apparatus for automated slide drilling

An automated slide drilling system (ASDS) may be used with a drilling rig system to control slide drilling. The ASDS may autonomously control slide drilling without user input during the slide drilling. The ASDS may further support a transition from rotary drilling to slide drilling to rotary drilling without user input during the transitions. The ASDS may also support user input and user notifications for various steps to enable manual or semi-manual control of slide drilling by a driller or an operator.

REEL CONTROL IN A COILED TUBING SYSTEM

A system is provided including a coiled tubing reel apparatus including a reel drum for storing a coiled tubing string spooled on the reel drum and a hydraulic reel drive motor that controls rotation of the reel drum. The system further includes a reel controller that determines an estimated reel back tension for a portion of the coiled tubing string between the reel apparatus and the injector based on a set of parameters related to a coiled tubing operation. The reel controller determines a target reel back tension to be applied to the portion of the coiled tubing string by adjusting the estimated reel back tension based on a historical job dataset. The reel controller then determines and sets a target hydraulic pressure of the reel drive motor to achieve the target reel back tension in the portion of the coiled tubing string.
