A downhole tool for installing a gas lift valve in a well. The downhole tool may include a housing, a mandrel movably disposed with respect to the housing, a holder configured to hold the gas lift valve, and an arm supporting the holder. The arm may pivot between a retracted position in which the holder is adjacent the housing and an extended position in which the holder is disposed away from the housing. The mandrel and the arm may be operatively connected via a pin-slot joint having a pin disposed within a slot. The slot may have a first slot portion and a second slot portion. The pin-slot joint may prevent the arm from pivoting when the pin is within the first slot portion and permit the arm to pivot when the pin is within the second slot portion.

Retrieval of bottom hole assembly components from a subterranean well

An apparatus can include a cable head assembly with a cable head stinger connected to a weak link, and a release assembly including a bushing that radially outwardly supports a dog in engagement with an internal groove formed in an outer housing. A method can include connecting a bottom hole assembly to a wireline, the connecting including connecting the wireline to a cable head stinger of a cable head assembly; deploying the wireline and bottom hole assembly into the well; applying a tensile force to the wireline, thereby breaking a weak link of the cable head assembly; and then displacing the cable head stinger into engagement with a bushing of the release assembly, thereby permitting a dog to displace radially inwardly out of engagement with an internal groove in the release assembly.

METHOD FOR OPERATING A SLEEVE

A method for operating a sleeve including running a latch system into contact with the sleeve, latching the latch system to the sleeve, shifting the sleeve from a first position to a second position with the latch system moving in the same direction that the latch system moved during latching.

INDEXING VALVE SYSTEM FOR A RESOURCE EXPLORATION AND RECOVERY SYSTEM

An indexing valve system includes a first tubular having an outer surface portion, an inner surface portion defining a passage portion, and a plurality of indexing components. A second tubular is axially aligned with the first tubular. The second tubular includes an outer surface section, an inner surface section defining a passage section, and a plurality of indexing members that selectively inter-engage with the plurality of indexing components. The inner surface section including a plurality of indexing elements. An insert extends into, and is axially shiftable relative to, the passage portion and the passage section. The insert includes an outer surface supporting an indexer that selectively engages with the plurality of indexing elements to rotate the second tubular relative to the first tubular.
