INTERNALLY MOUNTED AND ACTUATED PACKER SYSTEM
20230011508 · 2023-01-12 · ·

A packer system for a wellbore. The system includes a base packing element mounted to an inner surface of a first tubular and an actuator which actuates the base packing element in a radially inward direction. The system further includes a first trigger element disposed at the inner surface of the first tubular and operatively connected with the actuator, and a second trigger element disposed at an outer surface of a second tubular. The second tubular is displaceable in an axial direction with respect to the first tubular, wherein, upon displacing the second tubular at a predetermined position within the first tubular: the second trigger element engages with the first trigger element; and the first trigger element causes the actuator to actuate the base packing element in a radially inward direction, to bridge a space between the first tubular and second tubulars. Also disclosed and described is a related method.

MIXED ELEMENT SWELL PACKER SYSTEM AND METHOD
20230003096 · 2023-01-05 ·

A technique facilitates use of a swellable packer or packers which may be disposed along completion equipment of a well string. Each packer comprises a packer frame and a plurality of swellable elements formed of materials which swell in different types of fluids. The plurality of swellable elements may comprise a first swellable element mounted on the packer frame and swellable in a first type of fluid. A second swellable element also may be mounted on the packer frame proximate the first swellable element and swellable in a second type of fluid which is different from the first type of fluid. Additionally, a portion of an alternate path system may extend through the swellable elements to facilitate a gravel packing operation.

A downhole tool includes a plurality of mechanical components with some that move relative to others. The tool includes an annular charge cannister associated with the plurality of mechanical components that delivers a gas to move mechanical components. The annular charge cannister includes an annular chamber having a back wall, an interior sidewall, an exterior sidewall, and an open side opposite the back wall. The back wall and the interior sidewall and exterior sidewall form an interior space, and a power charge is disposed within the interior space of the annular chamber. An annular lid is sized and configured to mate with the open side of the annular chamber. The charge cannister may include an ignition port formed in the annular lid for receiving an igniter.

Compact setting tool

A compact setting tool that sets a packer or bridge plug in a wellbore and then self bleeds the gas pressure prior to pulling the string out of the wellbore.

Setting tool assembly

A setting tool assembly configured to couple with a part of a workstring, the assembly having an inner housing coupled with one or more other components. A trigger device is coupled with a movable piston. During run-in, the piston is in a first position. Upon activation, the trigger device undergoes an altering event whereby the piston moves to a second position as a result of a pressure acting thereon.

Locking energizing ring

A system for forming a seal between wellbore components includes an annular seal having a first leg and a second leg, the first leg positioned proximate a first wellbore component and the second leg positioned proximate a second wellbore component, wherein upon activation of the seal, the first leg engages the first wellbore component and the second leg engages the second wellbore component. The system also includes an energizing ring adapted to activate the seal, the energizing ring extending into an opening of the seal to drive the first leg and the second leg radially outward relative to an axis of the seal. The energizing ring includes bumps positioned to align with respective grooves formed on both the first leg and the second leg, upon activation of the seal, the bumps transmitting an uphole force into components having an axial component and a radial component.
