Two part bonded seal for static downhole tool applications

A seal assembly and methods of use, wherein the seal assembly is formed of an elastomeric enclosure within which a primary cavity is defined. A second cavity in the form of a crushable container is deployed within the primary chamber. An elastomeric compound is contained in one cavity and an elastomeric hardener contained in the other cavity. Upon application of an external force to the elastomeric enclosure, the enclosure is elastically deformed from a first shape to a second shape, wherein the second shape positions the elastomeric enclosure into a sealing configuration between adjacent annular surfaces. The external force also crushes the container, to cause mixing of the elastomeric compound and elastomeric hardener. Once the reaction is complete, the hardened compound retains the deformed shape of the elastomeric enclosure to maintain a seal between the annular surfaces.

Metal to metal vee seal

A system to provide at least two circumferential metal to metal seals between coaxial tubulars. Where a first tubular includes a circumferential shoulder having a circumferential first metal seal and a circumferential second metal seal. A second tubular has a circumferential shoulder that matches and abuts the first tubular circumferential shoulder. Each metal seal is of a material having a higher yield strength than the second tubular shoulder such that the first metal seal and the second metal seal will penetrate the material of the second tubular shoulder thereby providing a seal. Additionally a test port is provided from the exterior of the exterior tubular to a point on either the first or second tubular between the first and second metal seals.

SWELLABLE METAL MATERIAL WITH SILICA

A tubing string may include a swellable metal material for providing a seal downhole. The swellable metal material may react with a silica material and a water-based fluid to cause the swellable metal material to swell and form a seal within a flow path defined in part by the tubing string.

Modular well capping system, kit, and methods

A transportable well capping system, kit, and methods are provided. The transportable well capping system can include a plurality of modular subsystems capable of fitting within a bed of a standard full-sized pickup truck. The modular subsystems can include a sealing mechanism subassembly including a plurality of different sized seals for securing to a range of diameters of well casings, a gas flow meter subassembly, a hydrogen sulfide scrubber subassembly, a compressor and storage subassembly capable of storing the scrubbed methane in a storage tank, and a methane destruction subassembly capable of igniting the scrubbed methane gas and converting it to carbon dioxide. The subassemblies are sized to be capable of fitting within the bed of a standard full-sized pickup truck and can be driven to a location of an abandoned well and fluidically interconnected in a manner to cap the abandoned well.

BI-DIRECTIONAL WELLHEAD ANNULUS PACKOFF WITH INTEGRAL SEAL AND HANGER LOCKDOWN RING

A wellhead annulus packoff and an associated method of energizing and de-energizing are disclosed. The wellhead annulus packoff includes at least one seal element, a hanger lockdown ring, a hanger lockdown energizing ring, a seal lockdown ring, a seal lockdown energizing ring, and one or more mechanical conditional operators, where the at least one seal element adapted to be energized with a first energizing force applied through a seal lockdown energizing ring and with the one or more mechanical conditional operators being engaged, where the seal lockdown ring is adapted to be energized with the first energizing force and with the one or more mechanical conditional operators being disengaged, and where the hanger lockdown ring is adapted to be energized with a second energizing force applied through a hanger lockdown energizing ring.

SEQUENTIAL RETRIEVAL MECHANISM FOR BI-DIRECTIONAL WELLHEAD ANNULUS PACKOFF

A wellhead annulus packoff and an associated method is disclosed. A retainer lock mechanism of the wellhead annulus packoff is to sit at least partly within a first indentation of a hanger. The retainer lock mechanism includes a bottom surface and a side surface so that the bottom surface is to be associated with a lower energizing ring and the side surface is to be engaged in an energized state with a first side of the seal element. A second side of the seal element is to abut with a surface of a housing and a slot of the seal element is to abut with the lower energizing ring in the energized state of the wellhead annulus packoff.

Seal assembly for a downhole device

A sealing assembly for a downhole device has first (12) and second sealing (22) components which are urged together to make up the assembly such that a first sealing surface (34) on the first component radially presses a lip member (44) on the second component to change the angle of a second sealing surface (45) in the connected assembly. The components are urged together by a driving member (60) which can have screw threads that cooperate with the first component. The lip may be annular and may be formed by an undercut or recess (42) radially inwardly or outwardly of the lip member, allowing the lip member to bend radially inwards into the recess, during insertion of the second sealing component into the first.

Circulation sleeve and method

A circulation sleeve including a housing, a mandrel disposed at least partially within the housing, the mandrel and the housing together configured to respond to pressure applied to the sleeve from radially outward of the housing by moving the housing to a position relative to the mandrel where a treatment port through a radial wall of the mandrel is exposed outside of the housing and to respond to fluid flow rate within the mandrel to move the housing to a position relative to the mandrel where the treatment port is disposed within the housing.

Seal sleeve and assembly including such a seal sleeve. A seal sleeve (10) having a seal sleeve wall (14) comprising a swellable polymer material having elastomeric properties so that the seal sleeve has non-swollen state and an expanded state, wherein the seal sleeve wall has a closed circumference that extends around a central longitudinal axis (A), the seal sleeve wall having a non-swollen thickness that is defined by the distance between an inner surface and an outer surface of the seal sleeve wall in the non-swollen state, the non-swollen thickness being less than the radial width of a circumferential space between an inner and an outer element that has to be closed off by the seal sleeve, wherein at least one of the end surfaces (14a, 14b, 252) extends in a plane that includes a sharp angle (a) with the longitudinal axis.
