CHOKE WITH SINGLE CRYSTAL FLOW CONDUITS
A choke includes a cage having a plurality of openings extending therethrough, a first fluid port and a second fluid port, the openings in the cage fluidly interposed between the first and second fluid ports, and a selectively positionable blocking member positioned with respect to the openings to selectively overlie all of a portion of the openings, wherein the surface of the opening extending through the cage are a single crystal material. The single crystal material may be provided as an insert, having an opening therethrough, secured in position with respect to the cage.
Adaptive fluid switches for autonomous flow control
An adaptive fluid switch for regulating the production rate of a fluid. The adaptive fluid switch includes a fluid control module having a fluid selector, a swirl chamber and a self-impinging valve element. When the fluid produced through the adaptive fluid switch has a viscosity greater than a first predetermined level, the fluid selector determines the fluid to be a selected fluid such that the fluid swirls in one direction in the swirl chamber and follows a low resistance flow path in the valve element. When the fluid has a viscosity less than a second predetermined level, the fluid selector determines the fluid to be a non-selected fluid such that the fluid swirls in the opposite direction in the swirl chamber and follows a high resistance flow path in the valve element, thereby regulating the production rate of the fluid responsive to changes in the viscosity of the fluid.
LOW POWER CONSUMPTION ELECTRO-HYDRAULIC VALVE CONTROLLER
An electro-hydraulic control system for actuating a control valve includes a control module. The control module is coupled to the surface via two hydraulic lines and an electric line. The control module uses one of the hydraulic lines as an “open” line and the other line as a “close” line. The control module includes a normally closed (NC) solenoid valve (SOV) that is coupled to the electric line and can be controlled from the surface to open or close. The opening or closing of the NC SOV in cooperation with hydraulic pressure on an “open” or “close” line of the hydraulic lines operates (i.e., closes or opens) the control valve.
REMOVABLE NOZZLE FOR A DOWNHOLE VALVE
A method of manufacturing a valve of a tool for use downhole includes changing a flow characteristic of the valve. A load is applied to a first nozzle secured in a housing of the valve via a first release member, wherein a magnitude of the load is greater than a release threshold of the first release member, to release the first release member. The first nozzle is removed from the housing, and a second nozzle is secured in the housing via a second release member.
DOWNHOLE THROTTLING DEVICE BASED ON WIRELESS CONTROL
A downhole throttling device based on wireless control includes an inlet nozzle, a throttling assembly, an electrical sealing cylinder, a gas guide cylinder, a lower adapter sleeve, an end socket, a female sleeve, and electrical components. The inlet nozzle is connected to the throttling assembly, the throttling assembly is connected to the electrical sealing cylinder and the gas guide cylinder, the electrical sealing cylinder and the gas guide cylinder are both connected to the lower adapter sleeve, the lower adapter sleeve is respectively connected to the end socket and the female sleeve, and the electrical components are arranged in the electrical sealing cylinder. A throttling effect is achieved by detecting the temperature and pressure in a tube by a temperature/pressure sensor in the electrical components and controlling a motor to rotate a movable valve in the throttling assembly by a circuit control assembly, thereby achieving wireless control over downhole throttling.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PRODUCING HYDROCARBON MATERIAL FROM OR INJECTING FLUID INTO A SUBTERRANEAN FORMATION USING ADJUSTABLE FLOW RESTRICTION
A valve assembly for integration within a wellbore string disposed within a subterranean reservoir is provided. The valve assembly includes a valve housing having one or more injection ports for establishing fluid communication between a central passage and the reservoir. The valve assembly includes a valve sleeve operatively mounted within the valve housing and comprising a fluid channel adapted to establish fluid communication between the central passage and the injection ports, and configured to create a fluid flowrate restriction. The valve assembly has a flow adjuster connectable to the valve sleeve, and is selectively arranged to align an opening with the fluid channel and allow fluid to flow from the fluid channel through the opening to the injection port, wherein connecting the flow adjuster to the valve sleeve defines a flow length of the fluid channel to adjust the fluid restriction created by the fluid channel.
ESCAPEMENT SYSTEM FOR SHIFTING A MEMBER IN A DOWNHOLE TOOL
A downhole tool includes a tubular having an outer surface, an inner surface, a recess extending from the inner surface toward the outer surface, and an opening extending from the outer surface to the recess. A hydraulic passage extends through the tubular. The hydraulic passage includes an inlet, a first and a second branch. The second branch is fluidically exposed at the inner surface. A piston is arranged in the recess. A locking ring is arranged radially inwardly of the piston and a member is arranged in the tubular spaced from the inner surface. Application of hydraulic pressure in the first branch urges the piston radially inwardly clamping the locking ring against the member and application of hydraulic pressure in the second branch urges the member axially in a first direction relative to the tubular.
In situ injection or production via a well using selective operation of multi-valve assemblies with choked configurations
Oil recovery can include providing a tubing string and isolation devices to define isolated intervals for an existing well previously operated using plug-and-perf and primary production. Valve assemblies are installed in respective isolated intervals, each valve assembly including at least two valves. The valve can be operated in open and closed configurations, and at least one open configuration provides choked flow via an elongated passage. The valves can have a housing and a shiftable sleeve. The valve assemblies can be operated to provide a desired openness based on the injectivity or other properties by shifting the sleeves of the valves. Different flow resistance levels can be provided to facilitate enhanced operations for water flooding and other oil recovery processes.
Low power consumption electro-hydraulic system with pilot cartridge
An electro-hydraulic control system actuates a control valve. A control module is controlled via two hydraulic lines and two electrical power lines. The control module uses one of the hydraulic lines as a “supply” line and the other line as a “return” line. The control module includes two normally closed (NC) solenoid valves (SOVs) that are coupled to the electrical power lines and can be controlled from the surface to open or close. The opening or closing of the NC SOVs in cooperation with hydraulic pressure on a “supply” line of the hydraulic lines operates the control valve. A NC hydraulic activated pilot cartridge in the control module can be actuated open, and movement of the control valve in either direction can continue for a short time without energizing either of the NC SOVs, therefore lowering a power demand required by the system.
