SYSTEM FOR ELIMINATING BAD-SMELLING EMISSIONS FROM INDUSTRIAL PROCESSES
20220176302 · 2022-06-09 · ·

A process is described, as well as a plant, for treating a raw vent gas (4,4′) containing bitumen vapours and released by a piece of equipment (1) of a polymer-bitumen membranes production line, in which operations are carried out involving a filler powder (3), such as an operation of mixing the filler powder (3) with the bitumen (2), during which the raw vent gas (4,4′) is changed from a substantially powder-free raw vent gas (4), into a raw vent gas (4′) containing the filler powder (3). The process includes steps of first conveying the raw vent gas (4,4) into a gas-washing device (20) along with a solution (9) of a surfactant; contacting the raw vent gas (4,4) with the solution (9) and removing the powder from the powder-containing gas (4′), releasing a purified vent gas (5) that is substantially free from the filler powder; conveying the purified vent gas (5) into a boiler (40) and burning the bitumen vapours. In a preferred exemplary embodiment, it is conveyed in the gas-washing device only the powder-containing gas (4′) produced during the operations of the piece of equipment (1) that involve the filler powder (3), while in the remainder steps the substantially powder-free raw vent gas (4) is directly conveyed into the boiler (40) by a direct vent line (50) that can be automatically selected. In a preferred exemplary embodiment, the gas-washing device comprises a tank (25) configured to form inside a predetermined head of the washing solution (9) and having an inlet port for the raw vent gas arranged below the liquid head. The process prevents the powder from quickly reaching the boiler (40) making the burner and the heat-exchange surfaces ineffective.

Planning system and method for coordinating road milling tasks

The invention relates to a planning system and method for operating one or more road milling machines. In that context, material properties of a road are captured and are geographically associated with one or more roads or road segments. Based on the material properties, an expected milling output of a road milling machine is ascertained, in the context of carrying out milling tasks on the road, or an expected wear on the milling tools. An optimized sequence of milling tasks to be carried out is created on the basis of those data. Accordingly, the invention may enable optimized deployment of the one or more road milling machines and of resources necessary for carrying out the road milling tasks. Aspects of the planning system may be remotely implemented for centralized application with respect to each of the road milling machines, or locally implemented for individual road milling machines.

Hi-recycle asphalt batch plant

A method for producing an asphalt concrete blend that includes the steps of drying and heating aggregate in a single and only dryer, preferably via direct heating, and without use of a pre-dryer. The aggregate is then combined with asphalt cement, preferably via indirect heating, such that the blend has an asphalt cement components (ACC) percentage of at least 25% percent to form an aggregate mix. Liquid asphalt cement may also be added to the aggregate mix. Preferably, the asphalt cement content of the final asphalt concrete blend is provided by a maximum of 70% ACC. In certain cases, the asphalt cement content of the asphalt concrete blend is comprised of ACC and liquid asphalt cement.

A flame protection apparatus for installation in a dryer drum includes a plurality of sheet metal lamellae that form a ring arrangement about a longitudinal axis. Each sheet metal lamella includes a concave inner contour in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. On an outer side facing away from the inner contour, an installation member is configured for installing the sheet metal lamella on the dryer drum.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR RECYCLING ASPHALT MILINGS
20220023872 · 2022-01-27 ·

Apparatus and method for recycling asphalt millings containing bitumen and stone. A milling tube is provided having an outer tube and an inner tube axially aligned with and substantially contained within the outer tube, the inner tube having a diameter less that a diameter of the outer tube to thus define a mixing space between the inner and outer tubes. At least one of the inner and outer tubes is adapted to rotate relative to the other. An inlet is provided to the mixing space to receive the asphalt millings. A plurality of inner tube projections project radially outward from a surface of the inner tube toward the outer tube, and a plurality of outer tube projections project radially inward from a surface of the outer tube toward the inner tube. The milling tube facilitates the separation of the asphalt millings into bitumen and stone as one of the inner and outer tubes rotates relative to the other. Preferably, at least one of the outer and inner tubes contains an abrasive coating on a surface thereof, the inner tube projections and outer tube projections are comprised of wire rope, and an inlet is provided in the outer tube through which cold air can be applied to the mixing space.

Process for cold-in-place recycling using foamed asphalt and lubrication additive

Cold-in-place asphalt recycling is disclosed. A foamed asphalt may be produced by injecting water and optionally compressed air into a hot asphalt stream. A lubricating surfactant may be added to the hot asphalt stream to improve performance. The foamed asphalt may be mixed with reclaimed material to provide a uniformly coated paving material that can compacted to a desired density.
