20200130556 · 2020-04-30 ·

A method and means to manage timing and delivery of paving material to refill a paver during a paving operation is provided. The invention employs a semi-automated dump routine to manage the level and condition of material in the dump hopper of the material transfer vehicle (MTV) thereby minimizing flaws in the roadbed otherwise expected. Further, the invention provides for monitoring and managing multiple operational data pertaining to delivery of material related to the paving process to determine and coordinate timing of travel and delivery of the paving material to increase optimal conditions of the paving material to minimize road and pavement defects.

A system for controlling heating of a screed plate includes screed plate disposed along the paving material delivery path. A first temperature sensor is operative to monitor a screed plate temperature and a second temperature sensor along the paving material delivery path is operative to monitor an actual paving material temperature of a paving material being applied to a work surface. A controller is configured to determine an estimated paving material temperature adjacent the screed plate based upon the actual paving material temperature and operate a heater to maintain the screed plate temperature within a temperature variation range relative to the estimated paving material temperature.

CONSTRUCTION MACHINE WITH A CONVEYOR BELT SYSTEM WITH WEIGHT SENSOR

A construction machine, which is a feeder vehicle or a road finisher, comprises an operating platform, a material hopper, a conveyor belt system and an electronic control system. The conveyor belt system comprises a conveyor belt and one or more weight sensors which are configured to measure weight force of paving material located on the conveyor belt. In addition, the conveyor belt system comprises one or more inclination sensors which are configured to measure an inclination angle and/or a roll angle of the conveyor belt system. The electronic control system is configured to receive and process data from the one or more weight sensors and the one or more inclination sensors to calculate a mass of the paving material.

Intermediate storage vehicle, in particular construction vehicle with an intermediate storage tank and a material delivery conveyor device, milling train and corresponding method

The present invention relates to an intermediate storage vehicle, particularly a construction vehicle, having an intermediate storage tank for receiving bulk material, particularly milled material, and a first material delivery conveyor device for delivery, unloading or transfer of the bulk material, the first material delivery conveyor device including a material delivery point, via which the bulk material can be thrown off. The present invention further relates to a milling train having such an intermediate storage vehicle and to a method for milling a road surface.

AUTOMATIC CONTROL OF POSITIONING OF MATERIAL TRANSFER VEHICLE DURING A PAVING OPERATION

An apparatus for controlling the movement of a material transfer vehicle with respect to the front end of a paving machine that is being operated by a driver/operator and is being supplied with asphalt paving material by the material transfer vehicle includes a controller that is mounted on the material transfer vehicle and is operatively connected to control mechanisms for controlling the speed and braking of the material transfer vehicle. A sensor is mounted on the material transfer vehicle and is operatively connected to the controller. The sensor is located and adapted to execute non-contact sensor scan passes across the front end of the paving machine to determine the distance from the sensor to the paving machine. The sensor is also adapted to communicate information to the controller about the distance from the sensor to the paving machine. The apparatus includes no components that are mounted on the paving machine.

Method and apparatus for spreading chips on roadway

A modified chip spreader is adapted to be used in a chip sealing train including a chip supply dump truck and an asphalt composition supply truck. The modified chip spreader is a self-propelled vehicle that has a receiving hopper on its front end for receiving stone chips from the chip supply dump truck, a spreader assembly on its rear end and a conveyor assembly for conveying the stone chips from the receiving hopper to the spreader assembly. The modified chip spreader also includes a spray assembly that is in fluid communication with an outlet line from the asphalt composition supply truck, which spray assembly is adapted to dispense an asphalt composition onto the surface of a roadway in front of the spreader assembly. The spreader assembly dispenses the stone chips onto the newly applied asphalt composition on the surface of the roadway.

PAVING TRAIN

A paving train for producing at least one pavement layer on a traffic surface is formed from at least two independently driven units travelling in a group, such as a road finisher, a road paver, an IP finisher, a feeder, a supply unit or the like. The units move one behind the other at a given distance. In order to enable communication between the units via certain parameters such as speed, material filling level and the like, and in order also to easily control a corresponding distance between the units as well as the corresponding material transfer, a wireless communication link is formed between the units at least for exchanging speeds and/or material filling level.

Contact-free material transfer between a truck and a driving road construction vehicle
11959233 · 2024-04-16 · ·

In the method for transferring material between a truck and a driving road construction vehicle, a distance between the driving road construction vehicle and a truck driving in front of the road construction vehicle without contact to the road construction vehicle truck is kept constant by a distance control system. While the distance between the driving road construction vehicle and the truck is kept constant, material is being dumped from a loading cavity of the truck into a material hopper of the road construction vehicle. The road construction vehicle is a road finishing machine or a feeder for a road finishing machine.

Asphalt roadway paving methods and apparatus

The present invention provides improved paving vehicles for following a supply truck for use in paving asphalt roadways. The paving vehicles of the present invention need not be transported on a trailer, and are capable of traveling at low or relatively high speeds on their own. This is accomplished through the use of novel chassis and propulsion systems having two rear axles, with each axle coupled directly to its own hydraulic motor, such that each of the two hydraulic motors provides power to one axle. Embodiments of the invention also include reciprocating conveyor apparatus and methods, such that the conveyor apparatus may be moved to a lowered position to receive the gravity discharge of materials from a hopper and supply truck during a paving operation, and moved to a raised position in order to provide a wide margin of ground clearance when driving the paving vehicle, or loading or unloading the paving vehicle from a trailer.
