A cost-effective orthotropic deck bridge panel which is capable of being standardized to facilitate the use of orthotropic decks on short span bridges. Inclusion of a concrete deck in the panel simplifies fabrication details, thereby increasing the economic viability of the disclosed orthotropic deck panel in short span bridge projects. Shortcomings in fabrication of steel support ribs of the panel are overcome by using a cold roll-forming process instead of a press brake to form longitudinal bends in sheet material. The cold roll-forming process further allows camber to be introduced in the support ribs, thereby eliminating an extra manufacturing step.

An integrated rapid infrastructure monitoring system for identifying defects in an underlying surface, comprising: at least one actuator; and, at least one impactor operatively connected to the actuator, wherein the actuator is configured to transition the integrated rapid infrastructure monitoring system from a first configuration with at least one of a motive force and an impact bounce force of the impactor, where the impactor is located on a first side of the integrated rapid infrastructure monitoring system, to a second configuration, where the impactor is located on a second side of the integrated rapid infrastructure monitoring system.

A method of manufacturing an orthotropic deck panel includes securing a rib member in a first fixture, beveling an edge surface of the rib member while the rib member is secured in the first fixture, and releasing the rib member from the first fixture, attaching the rib member to a deck plate, and attaching a floor beam to the rib member and the deck plate.

Elongate pipe-based support structure

The present invention is a support structure including elongate hollow cylinder and flat plates secured thereto. A first rigid flat plate is horizontally disposed in overlying relation to each hollow cylinder and a second rigid flat plate is horizontally disposed in underlying relation to each hollow cylinder. Stress-distributing strengthening members are circumferentially positioned about the hollow cylinder and secured to their associated rigid flat plates. A key may extend from a first end of each hollow cylinder and a mating socket may be formed in a second end of each hollow cylinder to facilitate end-to-end interconnection of a plurality of hollow cylinders.

Provided is a viaduct structure. The viaduct structure consists of steel bridge columns, steel plate girders, a bridge deck bottom steel plate, bridge deck side steel plates and cement-gravel concrete, where the steel bridge columns, the steel plate girders and the bridge deck bottom steel plate are welded to one another to form the ceiling type steel architecture, the bridge deck side steel plates are welded to the bridge deck bottom steel plate, and the cement-gravel concrete is poured in a groove-like structure formed by the bridge deck side steel plates and the bridge deck bottom steel plate. The viaduct structure has the advantages of a firm structure, a thin bridge deck, the thin steel plate girders, a low height of the bridge deck, no plywoods required for pouring, convenient construction, low waste, a low material consumption, a low construction cost, a short construction period, etc.

COMPOSITE STRUCTURAL PANEL AND METHOD OF FABRICATION

A structural panel and method of fabricating and manufacturing same comprises a top panel and a bottom panel separated by and attached to at least one, but preferably a plurality, of structural composite preforms which may be fabricated by a continuous manufacturing process and may be saturated by resin using a continuous wetting process. The composite preforms may take any cross sectional shape but are preferably trapezoidal. The top and bottom panels may be fabricated from a plurality of layers of woven fabric layers and non-woven fabric layers which are saturated with a resin that is subsequently cured using cure processes known in the art. The composite structural panel of the invention is usable as a flat structural member for use as bridge decking, ramps, trestles, and any application requiring a structural panel.

The relation equation is established among a position of the vehicle on the structure, the magnitude of the force, a position of the measurement target region on the structure, a length of the structure, the flexural rigidity, and a deflection amount caused in the measurement target region.

A bridge system is provided that utilizes foundation structures that are formed of the combination of precast and cast-in-place concrete. A method of constructing the combination precast and cast-in-place concrete foundation structures involves receiving at a construction site a precast concrete foundation unit having elongated upright wall members that define a channel therebetween, and multiple upright supports located within the channel; placing the precast concrete foundation unit at a desired use location; delivering concrete into the channel while the precast concrete foundation unit remains at the desired use location; and allowing the concrete to cure-in-place such that the elongated upright wall members are connected to the cured-in-place concrete by reinforcement embedded within both the cured-in-place concrete and the upright wall members. The bridge units may be placed before the pouring step to embed the bottoms of the bridge units in the cast-in-place concrete.
