A joint includes a shell that is hollow and at least partially spherical. The shell includes a plurality of shell rail sections including a first shell rail section. The first shell rail section includes a portion of an outer surface of the shell, a portion of an inner surface of the shell, and an opening edge section that defines a shell opening. The joint also includes a plurality of rotatable members including a first rotatable member. The first rotatable member includes an outer cup positioned at least partially outside of the shell and having an outer track surface, and an inner cup positioned at least partially inside of the shell and having an inner track surface. The first shell rail section is positioned at least partially between the outer and inner track surfaces.

MODULAR STRUCTURE FOR PROVIDING ON-SITE PROTECTION

Structural truss panels include first, second, third, and fourth horizontal elongated members and first and second vertical elongated members fastened to the first, second, third, and fourth horizontal elongated members. The first and fourth horizontal elongated members form respectively a top and a bottom of the structural truss panel. The first and second vertical elongated members forming respective sides of the structural truss panel. The structural truss panel further includes and an angled webbing fastened between the first and second vertical elongated members and the first and second horizontal elongated members thereby creating an integrated web truss within the structural truss panel. The structural truss panel includes first, second, and third brace members forming a V-braced truss panel.

Blast, ballistic and forced entry resistant shelter

The present anti-ballistic shelter is a reinforced unit configured to comply with both ISO standards for size and weight, and with the U.S. Department of State Certification Standard for Forced Entry and Ballistic Resistance of Structural Systems. Each end and side wall of the unit is reinforced with wall studs that penetrate the unit's structural framework. Even though these wail studs are welded into place, penetration of the wall studs into the framework ensures acceptable blast, ballistic, and forced entry resistance even if the welds are flawed.

Articulated joint mechanism for cable-based and tensegrity structures

In a joint (100) for a structure that includes at least one rod (104) and a plurality of cables (102), each cable (102) having an outside diameter, a rod end (160) is affixable to the rod (104) so that the rod has a rod (104) centerline that passes through the rod end (160). The rod end (160) includes a mechanism (166) that allows the rod end (160) to pivot about a center point that is on the rod centerline. A cable attachment device (150) is couplable to each cable (102) and to the rod end (160). The cable attachment device (150) holds each cable (102) coupled thereto in a relationship to the rod end (160) so that each cable (102) has a cable centerline that intersects the center point so as to minimize any moments from the rod (104) or the cables (102) on the joint (100).
