Described herein is a coated building panel comprising an acoustical body comprising a first major surface and a side surface that intersects the first major surface, a coating applied to the first major surface, the coating comprising a polymeric binder, a pigment, and a hydrophobic component present in an amount ranging from about 1.0 wt. % to about 8.0 wt. % based on the total weight of the coating; and wherein the pigment and polymeric binder are present in a weight ratio ranging from about 3.5:1 to about 6.5:1.

Described herein is an acoustic building panel having a first major exposed surface opposite a second major exposed surface and a side exposed surface extending there between, the acoustic ceiling panel comprising: a body comprising a first major surface opposite a second major surface and a side surface extending between the first and second major surfaces, the body being air-permeable; and an attenuation coating applied to the first major surface of the body; wherein a first portion of the second major exposed surface of the acoustic building panel is formed by the first major surface of the body and a second portion of the second major exposed surface of the acoustic building panel is formed by the attenuation coating.
Hybrid Coating Process
The invention provides coating processes for producing finished fibrous panels comprising applying a prime coat onto at least one side of the fibrous panel by curtain coating; and applying a finish coat over the prime coat by spray coating.
INTEGRATED CEILING AND LIGHT SYSTEM
An integrated ceiling and light system that incorporates a light module into a ceiling tile. The system may include a grid support system suspended from an overhead support structure that includes at least one grid support element and first and second ceiling tiles supported by the grid support element in an adjacent manner A nesting cavity may be formed into the first and second ceiling tiles such that a light module may be disposed within the nesting cavity and coupled to the first and second ceiling tiles. The ceiling tiles may be of the type that conceals the grid support element on which it is supported. In one alternative embodiment, the light module and a nesting region of the ceiling tile may include corresponding edge profiles to facilitate mating therebetween to enable coupling of the light source to the ceiling tile.
Integrated ceiling and light system
An integrated ceiling and light system that incorporates a light module into a ceiling tile. The present invention is directed to flame-retardant building panels comprising a body having a first major surface opposite a second major surface; an inorganic coating atop the first major surface, the inorganic coating being optically transparent and flame retardant and comprising a blend of a borate compound and a phosphate compound, and wherein the inorganic flame retardant coating is substantially transparent such that the first major surface of the body is visible through the inorganic coating.

Monolithic ceiling system
Described herein is a method for forming a monolithic surface in a ceiling system, the method comprising overlapping a first facing sheet and a second facing sheet to create an overlap region, each of the first and second facing sheets having a first major surface opposite a second major surface and side surface extending between the first and second major surfaces, wherein the lower surface of the first facing sheet contacts the upper surface of the second facing sheet within the overlap region, and running a blade of a cutting tool along the overlap region such that the blade extends through the first and second facing sheets at a cutting angle that is oblique to the first major surface of the first facing sheet within the overlap region.
