Methods of replacing compromised composite-strength concrete roofs
Retrofitting a horizontal building roof having a pre-existing, composite-strength concrete roof having a corrugated steel deck with concrete poured over the deck top. Replacing the pre-existing roof with a dry-installed composite-strength roof having a rigid sheet installed over a corrugated steel deck, the rigid sheet attached to the deck by mechanical fasteners extending through the rigid sheet and the upper ribs of the corrugated deck. The newly installed roof restrains the upper ribs against lateral distortion under loading, thus forcing the corrugated deck to maintain shape and operate to composite capacities in excess of predictable flexural load capabilities of its components considered alone.
SYSTEM FOR RE-ROOFING ASPHALT SHINGLED ROOFS
The present concept is a method of roofing a bare roof deck. Asphalt shingles and metal flashings are applied to a wood deck of a roof before flashings and asphalt capping are applied. Metal panels are applied overtop of existing asphalt roof, thereby creating a metal overlay configured such that substantially all of the asphalt shingles are covered with a metal panel for preventing further degradation of asphalt components by shielding from sunlight, UV rays, excessive moisture, snow, wind, ice and fire. No further flashings are installed thereby the metal panel overlay creates a semi-watertight seal wherein the metal panel overlay together with asphalt roof is adapted to create a watertight seal. The present concept is also a method for roofing an existing asphalt shingled roof where metal panels are applied overtop the existing asphalt shingled roof. This creates a metal overlay that covers substantially all of the asphalt shingles for preventing further degradation of asphalt components, and provides a method of preserving an asphalt shingled roof.
Solar panel roof
A solar panel system comprising a plurality of joists, and a set of rectangular solar panels, each solar panel supported along opposing sides by two supporting joists. Each joist is formed with a plurality of wedge-shaped recesses, each recess having an end surface and a flat, sloping supporting surface meeting with a bottom edge of the end surface, the plurality of recesses together forming a saw-tooth contour. Each solar panel is received in the recesses of its supporting joists, resting on the supporting surfaces of the recesses with an upper edge of the solar panel meeting the end surfaces of the recesses, such that an upper solar panel has a lower edge which protrudes over an upper edge of a lower solar panel. With this design, the recesses provide guiding and fixation during the mounting, which saves time and ensures a reliable mounting process.
Retrofit Framing System for Metal Roof
An improved sub-structural roof construction component which provides support for exterior building metal roofing materials, which allows for standard components configured and manufactured in factory to be installed at jobsite, and which can accommodate variations required in the field. These framing components can be adjusted in field for height and can be rotated to fit the customer's roof.
Ventilated structural panels and method of construction with ventilated structural panels
A ventilated structural panel comprising a first sheet, having a long axis defining a length and a perpendicular short axis defining a width, a plurality of spacing structural elements, fixedly attached to the first sheet such that the yield strength of the panel is greater than the individual yield strength of the first sheet, and the plurality of spacing structural elements being formed such that a plurality of unobstructed pathways are created for air to move from at least one edge of the panel to at least one of an opposite and an adjacent edge of the panel, wherein the first sheet is the only sheet in the panel.
