Roof vent

A roof vent for ventilating the roof of a building to the atmosphere. The roof vent includes a flange portion to lay against the roof, the flange portion having an opening to let air vent from the interior of the building (e.g. an attic). The roof vent can optionally include a collar portion extending from the flange portion and enclosing, at least in part, about a periphery of the opening and a cap dimensioned and configured to cover over the opening (including the hole in the roof) and optionally over the collar portion. The cap is configured to provide a passage (between the flange portion and the cap) through which air can pass between the atmosphere and the opening. The roof vent also includes a corrugated filter plate, e.g. partially enclosed by the cap, and interposed between the central opening and the passage, the corrugated filter plate having a pore size sufficient to permit air to pass through but inhibit the passage of snow particles, cinder particles and/or water droplets there-through.

Roof exhaust with counterweighted damper

A roof exhaust for exhausting gas from a building is provided. The roof exhaust includes: an enclosure including a base and a hollow body extending from said base, the enclosure having side sections and a front section extending between the side sections; a conduit extending within the hollow body along a central axis, the conduit having an inlet connectable to a source of gas and an outlet for exhausting the gas from the conduit; a hood extending in the front section over the outlet, the hood comprising an aperture and being configured to direct gas exiting the outlet through the aperture in a downward direction towards the base; and a damper hingedly mounted relative to the outlet and including a counterweight configured to bias the damper towards a closed position.

Reflective temperature modulating blanket
10179995 · 2019-01-15 ·

A temperature modulating blanket utilizing a reflective surface to block radiation away from a phase change material during daylight and in thermal conductivity with the material to allow heat conduction out of the material at night at a faster rate than it is absorbed during the daylight. The blanket may be well suited for modulating temperatures of storage and other facilities. Additionally, the facilities may be uniquely configured to promote an attic circulation that further facilitates freezing and recharge of the phase change material of the blanket during night hours. For example, a secondary blanket utilizing a phase change material of a higher melting point may be placed at an elevated vent of a roof defining the attic to encourage such circulating and blanket recharge.

METHOD AND KIT FOR REDUCING STACK EFFECT IN A HOUSE
20180252421 · 2018-09-06 ·

A method for reducing the effects of the stack effect in a house with or without a combustion appliance is presented herein. The method comprising the steps of: creating a substantially air tight space in the lower portion of the house by sealing at least one of cracks, leaks and openings in the lower portion of house; improving airflow in the attic space of the house by at least one of installing soffits around the roof line, increasing a total number of soffits, and cleaning/clearing debris blocking airflow through pre-existing soffits; and creating at least one airflow path, direct or indirect, from the lower portion of the house to the attic space. If there is a combustion appliance the method further comprises the step of creating a combustion airflow path between the chimney stack and the attic space. A kit for carrying out the method is also presented.

RIDGE VENT
