WATER MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR PANEL-SIDED WALLS
20180038096 · 2018-02-08 ·

The present invention is directed to systems and methods for improving the water management of exterior walls clad with panel siding. The present invention improves on prior art wall designs by directing water on the exterior surface of a building away from areas which are vulnerable to water penetration, such as joints between panels, joints between trim components, and locations where fasteners are driven from the exterior. The water management system generally comprises a vertical batten assembly, and in certain embodiments a horizontal joint cover. The water management system is designed to be installed on an outer surface of the exterior wall panels. Thus, the system may be installed without removing and replacing existing siding or covering panels with an entirely new layer of siding. The present invention may also be used on new panel siding installations as a lower cost alternative to other siding systems.

A baseboard element including a nose portion, a riser portion coupled to the nose portion, and a wall groove portion coupled to the riser portion. The nose portion includes a nose bottom section and a nose face section. The riser portion includes a riser section approximately perpendicular to the nose bottom section. The nose portion is positioned only on a first side of the riser section, and the wall groove portion is positioned only on a second side of the riser section, the second side opposite the first side. The nose bottom section comprises a nose bottom edge that is located at a terminal end of the nose bottom section and that is located closer to a plane defined by the riser section than the nose face section is to the plane. Other embodiments are also provided.

A flexible inside corner trim piece is formed with concave depressions at hinge portions where wings attach to the body. The trim piece can be formed such that wings and a top cap lay flat in plane perpendicular to body or wings and top cap curve at an angle. Hinge portions can be narrow or wide and symmetrical or asymmetrical. The trim piece can be dyed, paintable, or present another decorative surface. The trim piece can include embedded lighting.

Edge cladding

A three-dimensional edge cladding for an architectural opening that includes a forward facing portion having a substantially constant first profile along a longitudinal axis. The forward facing portion includes a plurality of spaced apart nailing flanges, stepped surface topography projecting generally forward and away from the flanges. A longitudinally extending channel receives a side facing portion having a substantially constant second profile that include a portion that is generally orthogonal to the nailing flanges. A joint cover portion for covering the section where two or more edge cladding members meet.

Vehicle corner rail assembly

A corner rail assembly (156) is adapted to be coupled to a corner section (114) of a recreational vehicle (100). The assembly includes a jacket (158) having a main body (160), first leg (162) and second leg (164). A metal insert (180) is formed within an extrusion of said jacket (158). A securing tape (188) in the form of a VHB tape secures the jacket (158) to a front wall (110) of the vehicle (100). A further tape (190) located on an inner side of said first leg (162) affixes the first leg (162) to the side wall (112) of the vehicle (100). A vinyl gimp (192) is releasably coupled to the corner rail assembly (156). A further embodiment of the corner rail assembly (200) includes a mushroom cap insert (216) in place of the vinyl gimp (192).

DRYWALL JOINT TAPE WITH DUAL PURPOSE ADHESIVE BACKING

A joint tape to be applied to wallboard is provided and includes a base substrate having opposing sides. In certain embodiments, a first adhesive layer is applied to one of the sides of the base substrate and a second adhesive layer is applied to the first adhesive layer, where the first adhesive layer is different than the second adhesive layer. In certain other embodiments, two different adhesives are used in a single adhesive layer. In use, the joint tape is positioned over and removably secured to a joint or corner between adjacent wallboard panels using the first adhesive layer. After the joint tape is in position, joint compound is applied to the joint tape, and the water in the joint tape activates it to form a secure bond with the wallboard panels.
