Apparatus and method for stabilizing cracks and joints
An apparatus for stabilizing a crack or joint has an elongated plate with a cam gear end and a pin end. The cam gear end has a first aperture and the pin end has a second aperture. A cam gear is sized to fit within the first aperture of the elongated plated. The cam gear has a stud pin aperture positioned off a center point of the cam gear and a rotation point. A first stud pin is sized to pass through the stud pin aperture of the cam gear and a second stud pin is sized to pass through the second aperture. A locking mechanism for locking the cam gear in relation to the elongated plate is included.
DURABLE, FIRE RESISTANT, ENERGY ABSORBING AND COST-EFFECTIVE STRENGTHENING SYSTEMS FOR STRUCTURAL JOINTS AND MEMBERS
The disclosed technology is a system and a method for strengthening one or more joints of a structure having a plurality of structural members forming a vacuous area at each joint. The method includes computing limit load bearing capacity for the structure, at a joint, securing a filler module to the joint, at the vacuous area, the filler module having a plurality of surfaces so that when secured within the vacuous area, some of the surfaces are tangential to the members of the structure at its joint, and one or more of the surfaces are non-tangential to the members of the structure, and applying at least one layer of continuous fiber reinforced polymer wrap about the filler module and the members at the joint. The filler module of the disclosed technology is designed and configured to dissipate energy from a load applied to the structure, and at least doubling the load bearing capacity for the structure, at the joint.
Lightweight wall repair compounds
Herein are disclosed wall repair compounds comprising at least one or more polymeric binder latex emulsions, one or more inorganic fillers, and comprising an amount of organic polymeric thickener that is less than about 0.1 percent by weight based on the total weight of the wall repair compound. In certain embodiments, the wall repair compound comprises an inorganic filler system selected such that such that synthetic inorganic fillers comprise essentially 100 percent of the inorganic filler used. In certain embodiments, the wall repair compound comprises one or more glycol ether smoothing agents.
Stripped Hole Repair Device
Current stripped hole repair devices operate by expanding to exert pressure against the inside of a hole into which the device is placed, and are by design suitable only for repairing a stripped or damaged hole in alignment with the original hole. Likewise, various methods exist that do not result in a smooth surface into which a new hole can be drilled. In most cases, these methods are non-permanent, temporary, non-weight-bearing devices that inadequately address the problem. The solution provided comprises a solid plastic insert with segments that break off at a desired length, into which a new hole may be drilled and a screw inserted. The method for installing the apparatus utilizes an adhesive that bonds to the medium into which it is installed. The disclosure describes a simplified and practical method to repair a stripped screw hole, and an apparatus that can be manufactured and made commercially available.
Wall patch system and method
Applicant has created an apparatus for patching a hole in a wall. The apparatus preferably comprises a multi-section backer plate and a setting or installation tool. The backer plate comprises three rotatably joined sections, together presenting a face that is adhered to an inner wall of the hole, thereby supporting a filler material to fill the hole. The hinges allow the left and right sections to fold forward but not rearward of the planar surface of the middle section. The plate and tool are configured to permit the tool to be selectively joined to the plate at multiple locations along the plate.
Method for restoring a structure having a crack by following a curve representing the separation of the edges of the crack
A method for restoring a structure resting on settled soil, deep soil being consolidated, the structure having at least one crack resulting from the settling of the soil, in which a reinforcement substance is injected into the foundation soil of the structure in line with the crack in a primary drilling hole, the method comprising simultaneously with the injection, acquiring a curve revealing edges of the crack being brought together, stopping the injection as soon as an abrupt reduction in slope in absolute value is detected on the curve.

Durable, fire resistant, energy absorbing and cost-effective strengthening systems for structural joints and members

Adjustable hole cover
An Adjustable Hole Cover. One size of hole cover will accommodate a wide variety of hole diameters, and fit snugly. The device is made from a lightweight, yet durable material. A version having a cap with an internal metal core is also available. The cover costs less than prior plugs by incorporating a durable cap element to which a low-cost stem is attached. The stem is selected from a group of different-sized stems made from a low-cost material, such as wood.
LOAD-CARRYING CONCRETE FLOOR STRUCTURE AND METHOD FOR BUILDING THE LOAD-CARRYING CONCRETE FLOOR STRUCTURE
A construction process for enhancing or repairing a concrete floor structure that includes a carbon fiber grid as a reinforcement component is disclosed. The process includes forming a trench at a top surface of the concrete floor structure, and placing a reinforcement material in the formed trench. Then, a concrete bonding agent is applied into the trench. Then, the trench is filled with concrete. As a result, the concrete floor structure is enhanced or repaired to have at least one additional reinforcement component other than the carbon fiber grid.
