Selective fat removal using photothermal heating
A system and method are provided for minimally-invasive selective fat removal from a target area by injecting the area with a solution of photo-absorbing nanoparticles and irradiating the injected area with a beam of near infrared (NIR) light. The NIR emission wavelength excites the nanoparticles to melt fat within the target area so that the liquefied fat can be aspirated from the target area. The nanoparticles may be gold nanorods having aspect ratios selected to produce surface plasmon resonance when irradiated with NIR light around 800 nm.

Compositions and methods for application over skin
Disclosed herein are compositions that can form a covering, layer, film, device, and/or prosthetic skin that can be comfortably worn to provide skin barrier function, skin hydration and therapeutic and aesthetic benefits. The present invention provides novel compositions that have low tackiness and form quickly, resulting in a wearable, comfortable (maintains temperature and humidity), breathable, thin, optically invisible, cosmetically elegant, flexible, stretchable, elastic and body-movement conforming, yet long-lasting covering, layer, film, device, and/or prosthetic skin on the skin or any other body surface. The present invention provides novel compositions that can form a covering, layer, film, device, and/or prosthetic skin that works for extended periods in excess of about 24 hours, while retaining function during and after exercising, showering and swimming (in sea-water, fresh water and chlorinated water), steam room (heat at high humidity), and sauna (heat at low humidity).
Semisolid Oral Dispersions Comprising Active Agents
Semisolid oral dispersions for improving the health and/or appearance of the oral cavity. The semisolid oral dispersions include hydrophilic active agent particles in hydrophobic phase. The hydrophilic active agent particles can include bleaching agents, antimicrobial agents, anticalculus agents, and/or combinations thereof. The hydrophilic active agent particle can have a solubility in water of at least about 20 parts, by weight of the particles, in about 100 parts, by weight, of water. The hydrophobic phase can be semisolid petrolatum.
COMPOSITIONS, KITS AND METHODS FOR STYLING HAIR FIBERS
The present disclosure relates to a method for styling mammalian hair fibers, including providing body, straightening, relaxing, curling, or applying any other desired modification to the shape of the hair. The method comprises applying a hair styling composition comprising at least one thermally-curable acid-based monomer to the hair, allowing the monomers to penetrate within the hair and curing such monomers to internally form a polymer able to overcome the tendency of the hair to revert to its native shape. When curing is performed while the hair is in a desired modified shape, the resulting polymers may maintain the modified shape. Suitable compositions and kits allowing to prepare the same are also disclosed.
TOOTH WHITENING METHOD
The present invention relates to a method for whitening teeth. The method for whitening teeth according to the present invention can promote the whitening activity of a tooth whitening agent and increase the degree of permeation of the whitening agent into the teeth, thereby obtaining an excellent whitening effect. Therefore, an excellent whitening effect can be obtained despite the use of low-concentration peroxide, compared with the use of high-concentration peroxide.
Laser assisted wound healing protocol and system
A method of treating diseased tissue while healing the wound using a diode laser which generates a beam of light having a wavelength in the visible portion of the electromagnetic spectrum (400 nm-700 nm) at a laser power of 0.001 to 1.2 watts, used with intermittent stops to control tissue temperature and biostimulate epithelial regeneration when used with or without substrates. A method of treating diseased tissue using a laser light in the green wavelength range (520-570 nm) at a laser power of 0.001 W to 5 W. A method of treating diseased tissue using a laser light in the IR wavelength range (700-1400 nm) at a laser power of 0.001 W to 5 W.
COSMETIC PROCESS FOR ATTENUATING WRINKLES
The invention relates to a cosmetic process for caring for the skin, more particularly facial skin, in particular wrinkled skin, comprising the topical application to the skin of a cosmetic composition comprising a grafted polysaccharide polymer (I) and exposure of the treated skin to light radiation, polymer (I) being of formula:
PS—(CO—NH-L-X).sub.a(COOH)b
in which PS denotes the basic backbone of the polysaccharide bearing the carboxylic acid groups;
L is a divalent hydrocarbon-based group containing from 1 to 20 carbon atoms;
X denotes a photoactive group of azide or diazirine type;
a denotes the content of COOH groups substituted with the group —NH-L-X;
b denotes the content of unsubstituted free COOH groups;
a being between 0.01 and 0.8; b being between 0.2 and 0.99;

One Part Acrylic Nail Formulation
A pot-stable photopolymerizable composition for forming a cosmetic coating for nails comprises a mixture of a poly(alkyl(meth)acrylate powder, (meth)acrylate oligomer, (meth)acrylate monomer, a crosslinker, and a photoinitiator. This composition exhibits high viscosity that resembles the viscosity of a workable two part system after the monomer liquid and the polymer have been mixed. This composition can be shaped to form nail coatings without any additional use of monomers liquid, followed by an exposure to UV light to photopolymerize the composition to create a hard, durable nail coating. Additional ingredients such as colorants and antioxidants may be included in the composition of the present invention.
