Some embodiments of the invention provide a pumping system for at least one aquatic application. The pumping system includes a pump, a motor coupled to the pump, a user interface associated with the pump designed to receive input instructions from a user, and a controller in communication with the motor. The controller determines a power parameter associated with the motor and compares the power parameter to a predetermined threshold value. The controller triggers a safety vacuum release system based on the comparison of the power parameter and the threshold value.

A pool or spa control system includes a sensor system with one or more sensors in contact with a main body of water. The sensor system measures water condition data of the body of water and is mounted on a wall submerged in the main body of water. The pool or spa control system also includes a modem that facilitates data communications between the sensor system and communication equipment positioned at a different location from the main body of water.

Swimming pool cleaning apparatus may include a cleaning unit intended to be immersed in a swimming pool and at least one liquid filter circuit between at least one liquid inlet and at least one liquid outlet via a filter chamber removable from the body of the cleaning unit. The filter chamber may include a cover and a filter basket. The cover may include components for fastening the filter basket and locking the filter chamber to the body of the cleaning unit. The locking component may be releasable and, when released, may cause an extraction handle to be deployed from the filter chamber and urged toward a predetermined position.

A durable and collapsible strainer basket for pool equipment includes a rigid annular top portion having a radially extending rim; and a flexible basket extending downward from the rigid annular top portion, the rim of the rigid annular top portion including a downward facing surface that extends radially outward beyond the flexible basket and that is positioned to rest on a ledge of a pool equipment cavity, wherein the flexible basket includes a tapered outer shape formed by two or more flexible silicone annular sections having a plurality of holes passing therethrough, wherein the two or more flexible silicone annular sections are configured to be collapsible such that the flexible basket includes a collapsed configuration and an expanded configuration.

A pool strainer basket insert system and method are contemplated in which a high porosity, coarse fibrous mass is inserted in a pool skimmer basket. Via optimization of the material properties of the fibrous mass and configuration such that approximately 50% of the fibrous mass is located above the waterline and 50% below the water line the problems of the prior art may be solved via the retaining properties of the fibrous mass, enabling insects and small organic matter to be retained and preventing their migration back to the main body of the pool.

A filter assembly for filtering water in spas, swimming pools, hot tubs and whirlpools, having a first or outer filter element, a second or inner filter element removably installed within the outer filter element, a first coupling member associated with the outer filter element, a second coupling member associated with the inner filter element, the first and second coupling members engaging one another to connect the inner filter element with the outer filter element, and a releasable detent arrangement resisting disengagement of the first and second coupling members from one another. The outer filter element includes a filter medium for mechanically removing particulates from a fluid to be treated and the inner filter element includes a filter medium containing fluid purifying particles.

Exemplary embodiments are directed to systems and methods for monitoring pool or spa water, and determining an operational status of a pool or spa pump. The system includes a monitoring device engaged with a component of a pool or spa plumbing system, and in communication with a server. The server receives data from the monitoring device relating to characteristics of water within the component detected by the monitoring device. Based on the received data, the server can determine whether the data should, be discarded, and a runtime of the pump. The server can also receive vibration energy information from the monitoring device, determine runtime events of the pump based thereon, and determine whether the data should be discarded based on the vibration energy information. An adapter for coupling a monitoring device to a pool or spa plumbing system component, and retaining fluid within a reservoir portion thereof is also provided.

An automatic swimming pool cleaner (APC) may be used as a primary or sole water-circulation system of a pool or spa. The pool or spa hence need not employ dedicated water-circulation equipment, unlike conventional such vessels. In some cases, the APC includes a water treatment system for dispensing one or more chemicals for sanitizing (or otherwise treating) pool water.

A publicly accessible urban beach entertainment complex is disclosed, with a man-made tropical, pristine-clear lagoon as the centerpiece of the complex, with surrounding entertainment, educational, sports, and commercial facilities, the complex having controlled public access and providing the look and feel of a tropical beach with clear waters and sandy beaches. The method providing a publicly accessible urban beach entertainment complex with a centerpiece man-made tropical-style pristine-clear lagoon. The method allows for generating revenue and increasing efficiency by pairing vacant sites, underutilized sites, limited use land, or sites that are contiguous to entertainment, educational, sports, and/or commercial venues with urban beach entertainment complexes. The complex preferably has a controlled public access, thereby allowing entrance upon payment of a fee.

A method for analyzing a fluid of a pool by a floating system. The method may include sensing, by a sensor of the floating system, at least one out of (a) a wind parameter related to a wind that impinges on the floating system and (b) a movement of the floating system; wherein the floating system further comprises a top portion comprises at least one float, a submerged portion that comprises comprises a fluid analysis instrument, a power source, a controller, and a propulsion unit; determining, by the controller, an impact of the wind on the floating system based on the at least one out of the wind parameter and the movement of the floating system; controlling, by the controller, a movement of the floating system based, at least in part, on the impact of the wind; and analyzing, by the fluid analysis instrument, at one or more analysis points, the fluid of the pool to provide one or more fluid analysis results.
