A device for disinfecting water of a swimming pool, comprising an inlet for water from the swimming pool and an outlet for the water, an ozonation device, and a mixing section for ozone-containing water, wherein the ozonation device comprises at least one UV light source for generating ozone, and an admixing unit for admixing the generated ozone to the water of the inlet, and the mixing section comprises a housing which is connected to the inlet, wherein the UV light source is arranged within the housing so as to emit UV light directed into the housing interior. It is proposed according to the invention that the housing has deflecting surfaces for water protruding into the housing interior, which ensure a meandering flow within housing. The device according to the invention enables improved disinfection and can be designed to be more space-saving and visually appealing than conventional devices.

Publicly accessible urban beach entertainment complex with a centerpiece man-made tropical-style lagoon and method for providing efficient utilization of limited use land

A publicly accessible urban beach entertainment complex is disclosed, with a man-made tropical, pristine-clear lagoon as the centerpiece of the complex, with surrounding entertainment, educational, sports, and commercial facilities, the complex having controlled public access and providing the look and feel of a tropical beach with clear waters and sandy beaches. In addition a method for efficiently utilizing facilities and land that are vacant, underutilized, have limited uses, or that are contiguous to or nearby recreational, educational, sports, or commercial venues is disclosed. The method providing a publicly accessible urban beach entertainment complex with a centerpiece man-made tropical-style pristine-clear lagoon. The method allows for generating revenue and increasing efficiency by pairing vacant sites, underutilized sites, limited use land, or sites that are contiguous to entertainment, educational, sports, and/or commercial venues with urban beach entertainment complexes. The complex preferably has a controlled public access, thereby allowing entrance upon payment of a fee.

ESTIMATING POOL VOLUME SYSTEM AND METHOD

Various systems and methods for determining pool volume are provided. A method for calibrating a pool device for a swimming pool or spa comprises injecting a known quantity of a chemical tracer reagent into the pool water, circulating the pool water of the pool or spa system for a pre-determined period of time, and measuring the concentration of the chemical tracer reagent via a sensor. The method further includes the steps of calculating the volume of the pool or spa system based on the measured concentration, inputting the volume into a user interface in communication with a pool device, and automatically adjusting at least one operating parameter of the swimming pool or spa based on the volume.

SWIMMING POOL BATHER LOAD DETECTION SYSTEM AND METHOD

An apparatus and method for bather load detection are provided. In one instance, a method for determining bather load in a pool comprises calculating a first permeability of a membrane filter at a first period of time by measuring a pressure differential across a membrane filter located in the pool, measuring a flow rate of pool water through the fluid circuit formed by the pool, determining a volume of the membrane, calculating a second permeability of a membrane filter at a second period of time, calculating a difference between the first permeability and the second permeability, and determining a bather load based on the calculated difference between the first permeability and the second permeability.

METHOD, DEVICE AND APPARATUS FOR MONITORING HALOGEN LEVELS IN A BODY OF WATER

A method and an apparatus are presented for monitoring a concentration of a specific halogen in a body of water such as a spa or bathing unit for example. The apparatus comprises a housing in which is positioned an optical absorption analyzer for making first and second measurement of transmission of ultraviolet light from a light source emitting light at a specific wavelength. The second and first measurements are taken respectively before and after the ultraviolet light has travelled through a sample of water and are used to derive a concentration of the specific halogen. The derived concentration may then be communicated to a user using a display device and/or may be used to control operational components of a bathing unit for adjusting the concentration of halogen in the water. In some practical implementations, the apparatus may be embodied as a standalone device, which may be configured to float on the water of the bathing unit or, alternatively, may be configured for being installed in-line in a water circulation path of the bathing input by connecting the housing to circulation piping.
