A vertical door latch assembly includes a housing and a bolt movably attached to the housing having a catch portion. A drive motor is located within the housing and is configured to selectively move a lock assembly between a locked position preventing movement of the bolt and an unlocked position allowing movement of the bolt. A controller is in electrical communication with the drive motor and is configured to direct the actuator lock assembly between the locked position and the unlocked position. A force sensor is in electrical communication with the controller configured to measured when a force exceeds a predetermined threshold.

The lock includes a base configured to mount the lock to a door having a lever handle and a lever handle guard pivotally attached to the base, the lever handle guard being pivotable between a locking position and a non-locking position. The lever handle guard is securable in the non-locking position. The lever handle guard includes first and second guard portions arranged to prevent rotation of the lever handle when the lever handle guard is in the locking position. When the lever handle guard is secured in the non-locking position, the first and second guard portions are arranged to permit rotation of the lever handle without contacting the first and second guard portions.

A rose assembly for a door lock in which the rose assembly places the door lock in one of a locked state and an unlocked state. The rose assembly includes a rose moveable with respect to the door. The rose includes a first position, in which the door lock is locked, and a second position, in which the door lock is unlocked. The rose assembly includes a frame which surrounds the rose and in which the rose nests. Pivotal movement of the rose within the frame moves the door lock from the locked state to the unlocked state. The rose pivots at a door lever, and a pivot axis is offset from a centerline of the rose. A larger portion of the rose, defined by the pivot axis, unlocks the door when pressed and a smaller portion of the rose locks the door when pressed.

The locking device contains an impact detecting paddle or rolling member to provide a mechanical impact sensor that can detect whether the container has been unintendedly tipped over in the forward direction or whether it is being tipped over, such as for dumping.
