A packaging system for storing ophthalmic devices such as contact lenses and methods for packaging such ophthalmic devices with solutions is disclosed. The packaging system contains an unused, ophthalmic device in an aqueous packaging solution comprising tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane or a salt thereof; wherein the solution has an osmolality of at least about 200 mOsm/kg and a pH in the range of about 6 to about 9.

Sterile container (1) comprising a container body (40) having inner surfaces (2, 4) delimiting a containment compartment (6), wherein at least part of said surfaces (2, 4) is made of a compound material comprising a thermoplastic polymer, a first zeolite and a second zeolite homogeneously dispersed in the thermoplastic polymer, each of said zeolites having a micrometric particle size distribution and delimiting reticular voids in which bactericidal and/or bacteriostatic metal ions releasable from said zeolite are housed. Contact lens dispensers are provided including a pens dispenser having an interior and a dispensing end. A delivery screw is provided in the interior of the tubular housing. The delivery screw has a thread pitch and a plurality of contact lenses, one contact lens per pitch. Upon actuation of an actuator, each contact lens moves along the thread by a distance of one pitch and a single contact lens is dispensed from the dispensing end of the tubular housing. A contact lens storage and cleansing container including a number of closable contact lens chambers to which contact lens fluid can be fed from a fluid reservoir by means of a pump device via a channel system, and wherein the contact lens storage and cleansing container is suitable for a particularly long storage stability for the fluid being stored in the reservoir, The fluid reservoir can be connected, at the fluid end, by the channel system to an outlet opening via the contact lens chamber or contact lens chambers.

A contact lens cleaner device which can be used to clean contact lenses from debris and bacteria. The contact lens cleaner device pumps contact lens solution into reservoirs where contact lenses can be placed. The contact lenses rotate within the reservoirs and debris falls into a filter, as the contact lens solution continues to be pumped through the device. UV-lighting kills bacteria and cleanses the contact lenses in the reservoirs.

A method of operating a sterilization system having a vacuum chamber for sterilizing instruments, the chamber connected to a reservoir of sterilant by a valve in a closed state, is disclosed. The method may include taking a baseline humidity measurement while the pressure within the chamber is a first pressure, lowering the pressure within the chamber to a conditioning pressure, maintaining the conditioning pressure for a dwell time, increasing the pressure within the chamber, acquiring a second humidity measurement from within the chamber, and comparing the baseline humidity measurement to the second humidity measurement.
